I think if one presses Start on FordPass, the truck will start charging to 100% (unless you are already there) and that (if plugged in only?) would warm up the HV battery system, besides getting the cabin climate conditioning going as well if selected. But maybe folks do not want to climb their charge any higher, so that would not work @Ford Motor Company .

In a 15 minute period the SOC will usually increase by ~1 to 2 % depending on amperage, my experiences with an 80 amp FCSP.

Also a good reason for those who chose the 100% life to set max at 95% that way there is enough head room for the final 1 or 2 % while also warming the battery and cabin. with the {Start Charge} & {Start Climate}

Obviously their software has lots of room for improvement... but I do hope they will continue to improve, and back port features to earlier model years when possible. The problem is there's not much financial incentive to do so. It's mostly to generate goodwill.

On the software side, companies will normally price in ongoing support for a certain period or ongoing as a product scales and as priorities or regulatory requirements change. I wouldn't expect any less from Ford to have figured this out when they stood up the team.

You misinterpreted the post you responded to, this was about climate control and battery preconditioning at a set departure time. Yes when the truck is plugged in (although you can set climate off plug if desired). But it's assumed you were already plugged in and charging, or at the charge limit you've set.

Setting a departure time or starting climate does not "Start charging". The two things are unrelated.

Setting departure or turning on climate will not cause the battery to climb above the set charge limit, in fact I lose SoC since I usually have the Lightning plugged in on 120V, the L2 charger is for my wife's Mach-E as she drives a lot more than I do.

Incorrect to a degree, I've noticed as stated a few posts above the SOC increasing, I've measured the energy flow at 18kW, which is 9KW higher than just the load requirement of the PTC ~9kW, the BMS is sending charge energy to the battery during Departure Time events.

I've noticed that my SOC is generally higher than expected during cold MN winter mornings when I get into my truck. However, this isn't always consistent—occasionally, the SOC is lower. I suspect this inconsistency might be related to cold temperature since it primarily occurs during the winter months. I don't think I ever noticed this in the warmer months.

Good changes to the 2025. I can see the charging slider simplifying the charging decision for new folks. Thank goodness it finally has the kW charging speed, level 2 amps, and completion time in one spot. That sounds more intuitive to change the charge settings when the truck is charging under the Live Charging screen.

I'm thinking on a road trip I'd actually take a phone picture of this screen to document how fast the truck was charging and how long i expected to spend there.


I like the Charger plug locking behavior described. That makes it so impatient folks don't unplug the truck before it's ready during fast charging.

I think everyone knows and understands that. However, if they’re just going to make announcements and not be able to provide helpful answers to questions or topics they are as useless as the last version of @Ford Motor Company.

They left other forums to come here and “focus” and at this point they are no more helpful then they were before.

I don’t blame the people operating the account, I blame their management and outdated style of business.

Just wishin' if they are buying back shares to make earnings per share numbers, as all American companies other than Costco do now(yes...almost $300M in the last two quarters, ponder that one), that they carve out a mil or so to dangle in front of some Victron software developers, so they can get someone that knows the diff between an integer and a float and how to push an update. Am I bitter? Yes, just because I work with Chinese developers and I'm watching them leave the US in the dust. It's why I switched companies(the lack of actual investment in their companies leads me to believe that most U.S. C-Levels have just given up and are trying to get to their golden parachute, with one last corporate tax cut to make it look like they are doing something). I'd like to shame FMC into actually making this Job 1. Literally, before it's too late.
