Did some searching and didn’t see any topics on this so hoping it’s not a duplicate.

I was driving and was changing from Normal to Sport mode, and accidentally bumped the off road option before switching to Sport. I was probably going about 45 mph, didn’t notice any changes in the drivetrain but know that the automatic engagement/disengagement of the diff happens at much lower speeds when the diff is locked.

Anything I should be worried about or watch for? Again I was going straight and quickly switched out but was just concerned as I was at speeds much higher than the normal limits for the locking diff.

Thanks all

If you were going straight I see no problem, just switch off the lock or get to another drive mode before making turns on solid pavement, all you might notice is a bit of tire chirp if the lock stay's on.

It was brief and when I was going in a straight line, so I think we’re good. Honestly I changed it so quickly it might not have engaged.

If memory serves me, entering off-road mode doesn't engage the rear diff lock.
You always have to explicitly turn it on regardless of drive mode.
Correct. It was never turned on in this case. And, since OP was going straight, it would have caused no harm.

Edit - I was confusing my 2013 F-150 that I had for 10 years with the Lightning. Correct, the Lightning locker is automatically turned on in Off-Road mode.

My diff lock turns on when I enter off-road mode. I haven't tried to switch to off-road while driving, only from a stop. Either way, I would think off-road mode wouldn't engage above a certain speed, and if it did, the diff lock wouldn't engage immediately.
