PAAK Update? Forced to Re-pair Phone

Got a popup in the (Android) app (v.5.28.0) yesterday, forcing me to delete my old PAAK settings, and re-enroll my phone again.

I was hoping this would allow PAAK to work more reliably, and it does seem to lock the truck on walk-away more consistently, but really is still struggling to unlock.

I'll be honest, were there not a keypad on my door jamb, I would never use the PAAK feature.

Anyone else get this?

Yes. There was a "beta" period in the winter. And then Ford started rolling it out in the Spring. Around April or May, if I remember correctly. There was chatter about this around that time.

It required an app update and module update to support the change. BCM, I think? Maybe APIM was involved, too. I don't remember.

From what I understand, the reason for the "re-pairing" is that Ford changed the digital cryptographic keys that are generated server-side that is utilized in BLE communication between phone and vehicle.

Just got the same notification. Sunday i had an alert in the app itself and was prompted to delete and readd. When I hit the notification, it takes me to messages in the ford pass app but nothing new there. Paak has worked flawlessly since Sunday so guess maybe the android notification was just that late.

Just got an email too lol

I received the same update notice. My phone as a key has become less reliable. The day prior to the update I needed to use the start code. Today I have had to use the start code times. Guessing it may be time to carry the fob again.
