'24 Lightning Flash in black
I’m happy to keep my ‘24 Flash for as long as possible. What I’m worried about is parts and batteries being available for those of us who get the extended warranty and stay for the long haul.

This is interesting and I saw the writing in the wall. BTW this is not going to be the POS BMW REX. Ford does know a thing or two about building motors, so it is likely going to work pretty well and may appeal to a broader market. Glad the folks at the Rouge plant will keep jobs and have new things to work ont. I can’t blame Ford for doing this. This is where we are at in the US with tech right now. Maybe full EV’s become more marketable with solid state batteries come the 30’s. For now nothing changes for me. I will still have my 23 Lariat; my favorite truck I have ever owned. I will continue to take long road trips in it, because it does great on those. The only drawback of this truck is the range hit when towing.

Now Ford, please, please, please! Make good on your support promise. Don’t abandon us 22 and 23 owners. We are waiting not so patiently for the updates you have been pushing to the 24’s and 25’s. Everything else, well we can program in ourselves.

Thank you for bringing the update here in a timely fashion.
This still leads to oil changes, maintenance, etc that those of us got away from with the Lightning. I guess my next EV will be a Rivian if I ever decide to get rid of my Lightning. So sad to hear our beloved fully electric F150 is done.
This. I just bought a Mach-e to compliment our Lightning and am so happy to be out of the oil change and engine maintenance business.

Hugely disappointed. Will never buy an EREV. May have lost me as a customer.
Same!

I hope my 2023 lasts me at least another six years to see Ford and others come back around to BEVs. If something happens between now and then, I’ll find another brand. No oil changes for this family. The charging infrastructure is only getting better. The justification for this is silly, just say you’re losing your ass on the truck, no excuses are needed.

How many of us know people that have actually went back to gas engines after having electric? I don’t know any. I have a bunch of neighbors, friends, and coworkers that are in a group chat and all of us are going 100% BEV.

I get it for special cases where you need to tow a lot but we’re not buying these trucks to primarily tow long distance.

I really hope it still gets 300 miles of pure EV range but I'm not super optimistic since they probably want to save cost/weight on the battery.

Honestly, Ford should make the generator optional to appeal to the pure EV and Frunk connoisseur crowd and essentially you could appeal to a wider audience.

This means @Ford Motor Company parts should be available til 2035...
S0 with our extended warranties til 2030, I guess I'll be dumping both trucks at the end of 2029.

It'll likely be the same theoretical "170mi range" they promised on the mythical EREV Ram.

Unlikely. Probably something similar to the Ram. Maybe 150 (not on the highway) or so.

I was planning on using my lightning till I can't anymore, just really hope nothing sudden happens to it and it's hard to get another.. glad I'll have the best frunk in any EV, if worse comes to shove I guess there's always the Silverado/Sierra EV...

7000 lb + small generator + fuel. Nice... After hearing(rumor?) that Ford fired a lot of software developers and the drought of software updates and that I still don’t have BC1.4, I don’t think I’d be buying another Ford EV..

I don’t expect Tesla tier software updates cadence but cmon. My PAAK doesn’t work 100% reliable to open the door.

Guys it’s really simple honestly-

They want maintenance money. Dealerships are losing relevance as are salesmen- this is the only way they can keep overcharging you for maintenance. This is their bread and butter. It’s also gonna be their downfall as other companies continue to ditch useless dealerships and salesmen.

Damn I’m glad I got my actual EV lightning when I did. Absolutely love this thing and keeping it forever.

True, the dealers are gonna be happy when you get app reminders to bring in your EREV for its 5,000 mile generator oil change and various other gas engine maintenance

Thank you for the update.

A big part of my decision to go with the Lightning is mainly staying with a proven legacy automaker, full EV drivetrain to minimize maintenance, and home backup capabilities utilizing the large battery without a noisy engine running.

While I understand the decisions and look forward to what you guys cook up, it does stings a bit.
