Will You be buying the Lightning EREV?

I will drive my Lightning until I can't drive it anymore. After that I'll likely go back to an ICE or switch to a plugin hybrid. I won't go back to an EV until someone can produce a Pickup like the Lightning with a minimum range of 500 miles.

EREV is actually perfect for lots of reasons.
Less anxiety when towing
ProPower for extended power outage or camping

In Canada it makes sense, I guess for those in high charger density areas, EREV doesn't have any values, especially California and Florida

Jeep has the EREV coming with 90kwh battery with v6 generator, feel like perfect for me but it's not ford, and no bluecuise

For similar price, I would probably go for sliverado EV with max pack, range is still concerning for me in Canada with limited charger density and coverage

Still struggle towing RV from coast to coast

The population we're polling is already pretty biased. We already believe in the Lightning.

I acknowledge Ford reached a limit on who was interested in the BEV Lightning.

We are a minority…

I think the failure of the F150 Lightning Edsel was due to two things:
1) first and foremost, the precipitous decline in the price of gasoline, from its peak in 2022. At $4+/gal, the first Lightning customers cut their gasoline bills by over $300/mo; today, at $2.80/gal, the economics are no longer as attractive.
2) Ford misrepresented its towing and long-distance capabilities (remember that promo pic showing a Lightning towing a 24’ Airstream?). They probably should have left off the hitch receiver completely, and made it an optional dealer-installed accessory.

Range is important only if you don’t own your own L2 charging at home, or if you drive in areas underserved by DCFC.

I lay the blame of the failure solely on the dealers. They didn’t want them to sell and new they represented a future threat to their model.

They haven't even designed my next truck yet. My lightining should hold up anther 8 to 10 years. When I bought it I knew during it's time with me that it would become outdated and I accepted that.

the Silverado EV already has almost 500 miles of range and most ICE don’t have that kind of range. Your Lightning will probably live longer than you do and by the time you’re going to want to call it quits with your Lightning there will probably be much more capable EV trucks, even if not Ford. Your logic appears a little fuzzy to me.

"Upgrade?" That's not an upgrade. Another engine to maintain. Nope, worst of both worlds. I'll never buy anything with an engine in it again. My wife's next vehicle will be all electric. Hybrids are for people who fear change or tow A LOT. This is not an upgrade. Nope, nope and nope. If I had to buy another truck RIGHT NOW, it would be a Tesla or an electric GM truck. Hopefully the lightning lasts a long time so I don't have to worry about it for a while.

I'm retired probably not buying another vehicle. But not a Lightning. Love my used Lightning Pro, did a 4700 mile Grand tour with the SR. No problem. Ford and dealers fumbled the kick off by adding $20k before they were out the door. Limited dealer participation. I could go on but pointless now. 70 percent of owners are like me SR or LR is fine just a matter of options. Great for small business or government vehicles. Delivery, pool service, city inspectors. Should have made a EREV F250/F350 owners needing to pull trailers. I'll keep mine as long as there are no parts issues then see what's available from GM/Rivian/Tesla

May as well discontinue the EREV Lightning now and save some time and idk…another 19 billion in research and development costs.

Maybe this was said somewhere already, but it seems obvious that Ford should not kill the awesome Lightning, and just keep developing it going forward. The developement would be the add-on which is the Lightning-REV for those that want to upgrade to a generator if the standard Lightning causes too much range anxiety. Unfortunately, it will be hard to keep it in the 60k range for higher sales and will likely be closer to 90K in which they will just limit their sales numbers again.

I choose regime change. Ford desperately needs to fire the current leadership and bring a new fresh blood . Chevy, GMC , Tesla , Rivian and Lucid aren’t complaining rather developing a new ideas and technology. Soliciting information from the same customers you decided to abandon isn’t a good business plan, you start another EREV or whatever you like and two years later stop again!.?. Make up your mind I don’t see nothing wrong with my beautiful LIGHTNING , I unlike Ford have a good faith that this truck is the best truck ever produced and I’ll keep it for as long as I can .

Curious to quantify what other Lightning owners are thinking...

I’ll hold onto mine for several more years, but when it’s time to move on, it’ll be to a full BEV, not a hybrid or EREV or whatever acronym they use at that point.

A hard NO from me on an EREV. A meaningful generator will replace the frunk, which is a HUGE part of my love for the Lightning. I’m 71 years old, have owned some great cars (five BMWs in a row), and my Lightning is the lifetime favorite. I guess I’ll just drive it until I die.

I was satisfied with my Lightning range although it gets dicey in Michigan winters. As for EREV, I’m curious to see how it’s executed. Can I just let it run out of gas and drive it like an EV? Maybe fill it with gas when I’m expecting a long trip?? I haven’t researched enough to really know how desirable an EREV will be. I do know it’s disappointing we won’t have a pure EV option. I don’t miss gas stations at all.

I guess I'm a very odd duck. I could have bought most anything I wanted. (My very first car was a brand new Corvette bought with my own earned $.) The Lightning was the only thing that excited me. So far, my '23 has been a glorious ride. I can't imagine ever buying another ICE vehicle. Certainly not a EREV, or what ever they choose to call it, Adding a gas engine just adds another level of complication. IMO. I guess I'm sad and disappointed that Ford has decided to end the Lightning. Its a decision to cut and run. The lightning never got the advertising it should have had.

"700 mi range" So I go the 650 or so, now what? Stop for gas gives me what 300? Stop for a charge, 200? Stop twice?! Haul a huge battery you may not use after the first discharge; haul a heavy ICE you won't use until you have to.

I've lived with PHEVs since 2019 and they are not the answer. EREVs are the same. They both have the possibility of convincing the average Joe, like they did me, of the value of an EV. BUT long range towing OFTEN or no way to charge while you sleep ... ICE is the answer, otherwise EV.

Again, love my Lightning, hate Ford's decision .... but I understand. The US is not ready and Ford has to sell trucks.
