Do you have ABRP running? It may try to connect to the dongle first and that can cause problems
@B177y posted here that they installed an OBD Y-splitter and a second dongle to run ABRP and CarScanner at the same time
Thanks for the advice guys. It seems that the CarScanner software setting was set on WiFi, and all I needed to do was set it to BlueTooth. Now it is connecting to the VgatevLinlk MC+.

I appreciate the input.

Downloading this will make it easier but it isn't necessary.
Manually first connect using
Settings -> Bluetooth
Press or hold connect button (don't remember which) on the MX+ and wait for it to popup in settings.
Once connected there, use CarScanner to connect.
If it's anything like mine that stays plugged in, you'll occasionally have to unplug the MX+ to reconnect if you encounter further issues.

Yeah I’ve tried several times but will give it another go tomorrow. It connects to the first connection easily but continues to fail on the ECU (2nd) connection no matter what I try. When I was doing research the consensus was that the obdlink app (the one you linked) didn’t work since it’s an electric truck and they didn’t support it but I’ll try that as well. Looks like it’s the only way to update the reader as well and maybe that’s what I need to do?

It does 'work' but it's not particularly useful imo, what you are encountering is what I was referring to when I mentioned unplugging it. Not sure the cause but it fixes it for me.

awesome man! Thanks for the help. I’ll try it again tomorrow and see if your method works! You’re using an iPhone correct? I did read that android was easier to connect. Oh and I did get the scanner app to use with the reader so I figured not using the obdlink app was ok.

Apologies for pointing out what might be seen as obvious, but the truck need to be on to be able to read any data.

If the truck is off, you'll still be able to connect to the dongle itself but the truck won't respond.

😂 Yup it’s on. Just won’t make a connection to ecu. Did some more reading on the forum and looks like a reset, reinstall and/or re-connection work for folks that run into the same issue.

Think i experienced a glitch in the matrix this morning. Remote started the truck and when I got in and pushed the start button, the SOC dropped, the battery power jumped up to 1MW and the coolant temp went negative before returning to normal. First time I've seen that behavior.

You got a cool setup there. FYI, I was actually replying to Craig who said he had to buy it. It must be an Android thing since it is free on iOS.
EDIT: It was free when I got it in 2022, maybe it's pay now for the EV profile. Definitely worth the $8.

Also there are lots of copycats (at least on iOS). The one I and others use (and has a CarPlay app) is in the App store as Car Scanner ELM OBD2 by Stanislav Svistunov. https://www.carscanner.info/. Within the app it is simply named Car Scanner Pro.
The pro android version I bought today but it only costs $5.99 for lifetime

Question…do any of the mobile apps give you status of each battery cell, or just a combined number for all when it comes to state of health? I know that would be very helpful to me an to monitor each battery pack.
But I do remember someone said that you can only see the individual cells in forscan.

Unfortunately, not even in FORScan,, only in FDRS. But there should be a cheaper way, I'm working on it.

The guy who did the standard range to extended range battery swap used an Autel scanner that showed the state of each module and each cell in the module.
