I've used BP 2.1, 3 and 4 in my Lightning on my 3X and now BP 5.0 and after doing 800+ miles in the last 48 hours with it, I can easily say that BP 5.0 is by far the most stable and OEM-like (better) experience. Even went from wife-hesitant to wife-approved.

it's too bad that both konik and comma don't have the harness in stock (backordered, but still)....lots of delay if you want to try this out (like myself, possibly)

If you are near Houston I think I have a spare you could borrow.

Just Ordered! Thanks Tony!

Just for the record, some pictures of the actual current version of your connector and a bit of background info on the sale page would be a nice touch.
I have been slowly working on improving the page as I’ve had time. I just recently switched it to use square to make the process less cumbersome. I’m planning on adding some more info soon.

Did you automatically get a square receipt when you checked out?

Trying to install BP 5.0 on a new comma 4. I enter "installer.comma.ai/BluePilotDev/bp-5.0" and I get "download failed. incompatible openpilot version". Same if I try 4.0.

two options - reboot and retry, both just put me back to the "slide to use open pilot" or "slide to use custom software."

Any insight?

Thanks!

Comma4 is not compatible with BP-5.0

After you install bluepilot, go into the menu and find the SunnyLink pairing option. Once paired to Sunnylink, you can go in through the web browser and force it to recognize your vehicle.

Thank you. Jumping in the middle is difficult sometimes. So if I'm reading correctly, then I should be using this: installer.comma.ai/BluePilotDev/bp-c4-basic as the latest version.

I had that installed and then uninstalled it trying to get bp5 on. I should note that I do not have this connected to my truck yet (I'm the dock breaker!) so this is just connected to power in my house.

Thank You...AGAIN!!!

It should install, pair with sunnylink, and let you configure all of your options inside. Just don't use the lightning coupler inside, only use that in the car.

Hey Alan,
Out of curiosity what changed on the C4 to make this so? I thought the c3 and c4 are more or less the same hardware with just a smaller screen on c4?

Honestly I would have preferred the bigger screen but they stopped selling the c3. Give the demand for c4 has made for a multi-month wait on orders, will BP have more c4 support coming soon?

(again.. please forgive the newbie questions.. still learning!)

While the C3X and C4 Run the same chipset, BP-5.0 was made before the C4 was ever announced; so it doesn't have any code for the smaller UI. Additionally, Comma updated the base OS that runs on the C3X and C4 when they released the software with the C4, and BP-5.0 is incompatible with that base OS.

When Comma released the C4, they changed the programming language for the whole system from QuickTime to Raylib (for both the C3X and the C4). So we are having to rewrite BP-5.0 from scratch.

We have completed all of the features we intend to port to bp-6.0 and we are in quality control now. Hopefully 6.0 will come out late this week or early next week in beta status. This will be a port for the C3X and C4 with most of the features that were in 5.0.

Mounting question: I remember from reading through this monster thread that someone asked if the Comma could be mounted slightly off center to accommodate a FitCam. The response was something like "it shouldn't be done, truck will hug one side of the lane or the other." (Yes, that's a serious paraphrase from my old brain).

I'm in the same boat. Have a FitCam installed and will remove it if I have to (no way this thing is going below the FitCam, it would kill visibility too much - even the C4,) but I'm not very excited about. There are adjustments in the Comma for lane positioning. So my question is, why not mount the C4 2-3" off center and then use the lane adjustment to get the comma to put the truck back in the middle of the lane. Does that not work? Has anyone tried it?

Thanks!

People have done it. The reason not to do it is that the software adjustment for being off center creates a scenario where we are fighting what the model wants. So using the software to fix center is doable, but you add built in ping-pong to your experience by doing it. If you aren’t sensitive to ping pong you will be fine. But there is one guy who keeps complaining about ping pong and when I look at his routes, his car moves about 6 inches side to side over a minute. If he mounted his camera off center he would be throwing up from motion sickness I guess.

Thank you. That's enough information for me to decide the FitCam has to be relocated, not the C4. My wife fights motion sickness enough as it is, I definitely don't want to make it worse. LOL
