Yes, if you see a notification an update failed...but it is easy to miss the notifications if you don't check the APP everyday or see them on the truck display, and the error text may be hard to fathom.This is my understanding too, if low 12v is the problem you'll have some sort of failure notification. If there's no sign your truck is even trying to receive an update then it's not a 12v problem.
When I had the issue back in the summer of 2024, I didn't notice it at first. Also the error message did not mention the 12v battery was the issue - I had to call Ford and ask what the obtuse error message meant...of course they told me to drive the truck for an hour and try to update then, but that didn't work. I had to charge the truck overnight (or leave it on plugged in overnight - I forget which) and that solved it.
Since using the maintainer, no failed updates.
