I got an update today for "Feature Enhancement" which apparently was supposed to be only for BlueCruise 1.4 equipped vehicles only. My Lightning is a 2023 Pro SR and does not have BlueCruise so I don't know why I was getting it. It took an hour to install, but the worst part was the truck was making a strange, very loud noise through the entire update process. I crawled under the truck to investigate. The sound was coming from the right rear near the axle and differential. It looked like a motor or pump about the diameter of a Coke can. I was concerned so opened the driver door and could see on the screen an option to postpone the update. I selected that, but the update continued anyway. I again crawled under the truck and took a video. The pump/motor continued to run for about 45 mins and got very hot. This was quite concerning...is this running on 12V or on the HV battery? Fortunately it stopped when the update was complete. Why was it running? Why was I even getting the update? Has this harmed anything on my truck. Everything seemed to be fine after the "update" though I haven't yet driven the truck. I'm trying to attach a video of the event. Does anyone know what this is and why it might be running continuously when I was getting an update that I don't think I even should be getting??? I'm having trouble attaching the video....I keep shortening it, but it still doesn't load.....so again, this pump (?) is located under the truck, right rear axle at the differential just in front of the CV joint. OK, got the very shortened video....but formatting is a mess....sorry.

My Pro got this update last night too. I wasn't within ear shot of it while update was in progress....but I drove the truck 100 miles this morning with no problems, or noticeable differences.

Ok, my steering definitely feels more loose in Sport Mode after this update. 100%.

Usually when I got from normal to sport I can feel I tighten up.

Totally normal. I’ve had it happen on mine when I was around for it. Posted similar videos everybody confirmed totally normal. Can’t recall what it is that makes the noise battery cooler or something like that.

Certain OTA's require all systems to be running as a safety measure, you're hearing circulators running full tilt. Your's seemed a bit loud but it's to be expected.

well documented - totally normal. Search or browse this sub for many threads on this. People post about it sounds like a swarm of bees.

Powertrain module updates come in a pack that upgrade all the powertrain modules at once. The update mode for these modules puts the coolant pumps into a run state that makes that noise.

Same update, and now it won't start or unlock from my phone.
It will after a key cycle. Everything will go back to normal. This sometimes happens after OTAs.

Yep, after getting into the truck and synching the phone, it works normally now. I have the standard range Pro, so I doubt I see any benefit from this update.

Seriously??? Is this actually a "powertrain Module Update"? It's supposedly a "feature Enhancement" for BlueCruise (which I don't even have!!! Why am I getting this?) This is a pump (?) on the rear differential. I would maybe expect fans and coolant pumps to run, but this?.....not sure what this thing is, but if I was driving the truck and this thing came on I'd have to pull over....it's crazy loud!.....this can't be a "perfectly normal" thing. And it ran for 45 mins! Is this running on 12V or 400V? If 12V would likely run the battery down to a level where updates couldn't happen. In fact, after the event I did put a trickle charger on the 12V and it started at 10.5V.

Totally normal. Happened on my truck several times during an update that touches the power train modules.
