It’s not the truck. The trucks lights turn on when I walk out of Walmart from across the parking lot. It’s the stupid FCSP

I'm not sure the truck's involvement can be ruled out. My HIS setup worked well automatically between December 2023 and early April 2024. I think some OTA update the truck received screwed the automatic BPT. If the truck now only listens for less than 30 seconds for a confirmation signal from the FCSP and the backup mechanics of the Delta inverter/microgrid interconnect take longer to signal the truck through the FCSP, one could have a timing issue rather than a direct communication signal failure. Only Ford knows what's going on, but perhaps keeping mum to minimize their liability.

That's your phone to truck communication over BlueTooth?

The phone has a good BT transceiver so it picks up the truck signal without any problem.
If the FCSP has a poor quality transceiver, it might need a stronger signal to reliably connect.

If you mean the Key FOB that is a completely different RF signal technology - I don't think the Key FOB for the Lightning uses BlueTooth.

That's another possibility, for sure. Ford could easily have screwed it up when they did some kind of APIM update - I remember someone mentioning one that improved their audio BT connection.

That change might not have been compatible with the FCSP BT.

Somebody somewhere at Ford or Siemens knows what the communication protocol for the HIS and should be able to figure out why there are problems, and how to fix it.

It's too bad Ford uses a BT communication between the truck and the FCSP to initiate the backup given how buggy BT can be.

The Lightnings definitely have had BT issues based on all the forum reports.

It seems the BT antenna may be located behind the back seat on some trims - how stupid! - but could be in the front bumper area in other trims.

There have been reports about the limited range of the BT when trying to use it with the HIS some having to put the truck back seat as close as possible to the FCSP.

If the BT signal is weak and that is the problem, I'd suggest a BT booster connected to the Lightning BT antenna. They are not expensive, usually under $50.

I would also wonder if the BT transmitter could be in need of more 12v power? We know how funky the 12v system is on our trucks, that could affect the BT signal strength. I think the TSB-25-2048 version for the Mach-e said to replace the 12v battery as well!

However, if there is communication protocol/time-out/software/etc issue, boosting the signal strength with a new battery or booster won't help.

As an electrical engineer with an FCC First Class Radio Telephone Operator's License, that would be my first guess.

Another possibility is to get this:

However, that was from back in Feb 2025, and it may no longer be valid/available?

That is so exciting.
A company with faulty vehicle and evse communications wants to patent additional communication to weather services to initiate operation of backup power to homes.
Old patent philosophy - if you can’t do it at least block anyone else from doing it.

Thank goodness that it’s just an application and any examiner who is awake should reject it as obvious. But worse crap has been granted a patent.

Wow! @Ford says “The Ford Charge Station Pro, required for Automatic Home Backup Power, is no longer for sale”.
My question is for those of us that already have one, does Ford support servicing the FCSP for 10 years after the date of purchase?
I’m already on my second FCSP and expect this one to die (communications module went out the first time) in the next few years, which would render my Home Integration System useless.
My Hone Integration System works great in manual mode. I use it almost daiIy to run the house during the day/evening when power rates are higher than at night.
I hope Ford is saving some old FCSPs and/or parts for existing owners.
Or should I “self-insure” and buy a spare FCSP on the secondary market, while they are still available?

That's what I would do, I'd buy a spare, especially since last I checked, you can still get them on the secondary market for pretty cheap. But then again, I'm the kinda guy who likes fixing my own stuff and servicing and replacing what I need, myself.

While technically you might be covered or should be able to buy parts in a few years, if they literally have zero inventory, pretty hard to squeeze blood from a stone. Best insurance is to have your own supply, since the system works well for you.

While I agree that Ford should just make the existing HIS owners "right", which would greatly increase brand loyalty, the GenerLink is not a true HIS replacement.

For a lot of people it might work, but I have tested bi-directional chargers, vs ProPower on the same system and there is a difference.

The biggest difference is the complete lack of any surge capacity on ProPower. It is literally 30A. 30.1A will trip it out even for milliseconds. Even a gas generator has surge capability. Unfortunately that even with a soft start on my AC, the ProPower trips out as a backup generator. Propower will work for people backing up just the refrigerator, some lights, and internet, but wont work well for people with AC units or some well or sump pumps.

The other main difference is just the 7.2kW vs. 9.6kW (or higher on 3rd party systems).

Lastly not everyone with the HIS even has the ProPower option on their truck.

That being said, if Ford gave a choice between a free GenerLink option, or a heavily discounted 3rd party system like Sigenergy or Enphase, it would go a long way. The way Sigenergy is wired, it could almost be a drop in replacement with the existing wiring.

Hello… hi. We’ve been asking for help with HIS for 3.5 years now. Hasn’t worked but a handful of times for the 1 day that someone from sunrun trouble shooted it. Your phone support people just push us off with the line “a software update is coming next month.”
