I let my Nav subscription lapse. I knew I wouldn’t get traffic or mapping updates. What I did not expect, but maybe should have, the map reverted back to (I’m guessing) when the map was first made. Subdivisions and streets that have been here for 3+ years disappeared on the nav.

interesting.. Mine runs out in September and I was going to let it expire as I use google maps via android auto. will follow this thread to see if others notice simliar things. $8 a month isn't much but there needs to be a reason to keep it and android auto improvements seem to negate that

That seems surprising! On the other hand, other than to see how worthless it is once in a while, I NEVER use the built in Ford Nav. I use Google maps via Android Auto. I also have a stand alone Garmin GPS (that is traffic aware) that I had in my prior truck. At times that is really handy - normally the Garmin zooms in closer than the AA map so I get the best of both worlds.

Yes that is correct.

Strange Fact #1. When Nav expires, 22-23 model years still have navigation. It is just not “connected”. You have original maps and don’t get traffic updates while navigating. Starting in 2024, Ford changed the feature and now when Nav expires, those years just get a moving map. No navigation for those trucks.

Strange Fact #2. Bluecruise maps are different. If you still have BC but Nav expires, the BC maps update, but Nav maps revert back and don’t.

And newer models get no maps at all when nav expires.

I wouldn't renew it even if it were free. Garbage nav software.

Ford nav sucks. The road my camp is on in Maine was moved back when JFK was President. Where the road used to be is now a 65 year old forest. Ford nav STILL wants me to drive into the trees!

I use Waze (via Apple CarPlay) for navigation and Tesla app for charging.

One thing I like about Ford nav is it shows elevation, which I like as I drive in the mountains often.

This thread makes me laugh!
I renewed my Nav because I think Android Auto is garbage 🙂. And Google Maps only seems slightly better than the Nav.
The downside is the price you pay for an "adequate" Nav system.

From the Mach-E forum:

To be clear, there's two parts of Connected Built-In Navigation - the Connected part and the Built-In part. You're not subscribing to the built in part, you're subscribing to the connected part.

Depending on whether the vehicle is equipped with Connected Built-In Navigation or Connected Navigation, the system works differently.

For vehicles with Connected Built-In Navigation, a Connected Navigation subscription is required for connected features, but not to navigate or route (but you'll do so without connected features like live traffic or up-to-date charger information including exclusion of unavailable chargers) For these vehicles, when the Connected part of their Connected Built-In Navigation expires, you have Built-In Navigation. When you route with Connected Built-In Navigation, regardless of subscription you will have En-Route Preconditioning.

For vehicles with Connected Navigation (no Built-In), there is no Built-In part at all - navigation is only available when connected - the entire thing is the connected part.

Send an email to Maine DOT, maybe they'll get off their asses and send revised coordinates for the road which moved years ago.

I had a similar situation in our town when a road bridge over the Amtrak line was closed for 2 years of reconstruction, after it reopened, TomTom, etal continued to indicate it was still closed until I sent a few feedback reports of the bridges reopening.

Finding charge stations when traveling around is about all I would ever need a built-in NAV system for and there are plenty of free APPs that can do that.
