Your charge port door will tell you exactly what model you have. I've noticed a few dealers that list every Lightning in their inventory as a Pro; dealers are dumb that way.

My cover is the exact same as yours. The reason I thought mine was a pro is because that’s what Chat GPT told me lol.

Never trust AI. Please update your Vehicles as @TaxmanHog shows in post 15. Sounds like you have a "2023 F150 Lightning Lariat ER".

As for charger, you have 320 EPA range which won't be near that in the winter so you may be doing a 10-90% charge at times. I would just stay away from a used Charge Station Pro. The Grizz someone mentions seems like a good charger if you still want 80-amp charging. It will require a 100-amp breaker though.

If all you really want to do is charge at 80A, the FCSP (Ford Charge Station Pro) will do the job, and because Ford was giving them away free at some point, they were being sold for around $600 on eBay for example, about 1/2 what Ford's retail price was.

That was what I did back in 2024. I thought at the time having an 80A EVSE would be good for future-proofing, my truck has a max charge current rate of 48A, but now I don't think I really needed it.

There have been some frustrating software glitches with communicating using the Ford app now and then. The FCSP has a 3 year warranty from the date of install - the warranty can be transferred from the original owner to you, and if never installed, you get the full 3 years. Since they are out of production now, not sure what would happen if it failed.

As mentioned, the large CCS1 plug on the FCSP is rather clumsy and really the CCS1 plug on an L2 EVSE was only needed for the problem-ridden HIS (Home Integration System) to backup a home.

Any 80A J1772 plug EVSE should work with the Lightning, although some folks have had issues with older Tesla EVSE's and adapters.

I highly recommend the Tesla Universal Charger going on eBay for about $300 used. For your use case, it may not charge fast enough though. The most I ever charged using mine ('23 ER XLT) is from 12% to 85% (95kWh) in nine hours a couple of months ago) That should take you, at 1.7 mpk, 161+ miles per day.

I highly recommend the Tesla Universal Charger

I've been very happy with my Tesla Universal Wall Connector. My next EV will very likely have a NACS charging port, so this unit provides some "future proofing" without having to mess with adapters. If the 48A charging is sufficient for you, this would definitely be a good choice.

Assuming you have the capacity for the 80A EVSE, the Ford Charge Station Pro is one option. The software for it is very finicky and you will be relying on the truck if you need to set time limits. I think Grizzl-E is your other best option. EDIT: The review is for the 48 amp, but he notes the 80 amp is essentially the same just higher power output.
