Ford F-150 Lightning Important Update: Ford EV Roadmap & Future of F-150 Lightning (EREV Next Gen Model) - ⛔️ ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS 1766011103785-jn

Just in time for a possible roll-over from my 2022 to a 2030.

I'm glad that Ford executives made rational financial decisions, the health of FoMoCo is my primary concern, tanking the company to keep this current BEV going with such poor sales has been an economic stress on the company as a whole.

2028-2029 EREV rollout will be awkward timing considering the pace battery tech is moving. Sodium and LFP should hopefully be commonplace in North America by then bringing EV costs down significantly.

Personally, I would prefer dealing with the weight of a 200kWh LFP battery rather than the complexity of an EREV system.

Also, if towing is the issue then allow charging while driving. Keep the generator on the trailer. No need to carry a suitcase everywhere you travel just because you need it once in a while!

Sad to see the Lightning sales never caught on, too bad really since the truck is a wonder of modern engineering - software could do with some work yes.
I bought the truck at a great price, (same as the 5L ICE) and although badged XLT, it came with a lot of optional features like bed lighting, 360 camera & exterior lights, bed-scales etc. Really love the "Frunk" for groceries. Eight years of 'not-gas' travel will save me the same $$ as the truck cost.

By 2032 my Lightning will be 8 years old, and I will be ready for the next new tech, which by that time will no doubt be solid state batteries with some amazing range, and 5-minute charging, pull-through charging for towing will be everywhere, and the truck will be FSD - so it shouldn't matter that I am old, blind, and half-senile by then...LOL.

First of all, thank you to everyone for the candid feedback and discussions in this forum. I have been sharing common themes with management. I want to triple down on something initially shared. Like all vehicles, we will maintain parts and service for 10 years. We are also committed to ensuring ongoing support of our vehicles’ software quality and experience.

Sharing more information on the above as I get my hands on it.
  • We have good dealer stock of F-150 Lightning now and more in transit to dealers for those who may want one
  • We expect to have F-150 Lightning inventory into 2026, so there is plenty of opportunity for customers to get a Lightning for many months
  • We will have early bird and renewal programs in place to support returning F-150 Lightning lessees and owners to get into another truck
  • We will add additional programs next year to extend leases for customers interested in our new electric (UEV) pickup truck coming in 2027
  • We will add additional programs to support off-lease customers who are interested in purchasing their F-150L and keep it for a long time
  • Ford Power Promise continues in 2026
You've addressed a lot of issues in this thread. When are you going to address those of us who purchased the Home Integration System for an additional $10,000-$15,000 on top of the cost of the truck, and yet still haven't been able to get it to work for 3 years? Why deflect our concerns, lie to us and say software updates are coming, gaslight us and say it's not the charger when it very clearly is the Bluetooth handshake between the truck and the charger, and then not acknowledge us on this forum? You don't think that resonates with people who spent over $100,000 to back up their homes and have the disposable income not to buy another Ford ever again?

Thank you Brian (@Ford Motor Company) for the update - this is greatly appreciated.

Regarding the announcement itself I'm deeply disappointed in the news that Ford has succumb to the misinformation brought on by the oil lobby, mass media, and the loud anti-EV minority out there. This is speaking from someone who has extensive experience with EREVs - a 2015 Chevrolet Volt, which I only run as a BEV as I cannot stand having the gas generator running.

The rest of the World has gone 100% EV while the US Legacy OEMs refuse to take on a leadership role. Funny enough I saw an article that indicated that global sales of EVs this year is a 20% increase YOY with the EXCEPTION of the US which grew 1%.

I love my 2024 Platinum and will be keeping her even closer on a go-forward basis.
The rest of the world has gone 100% EV?! fantasyland

This is Fords problem. Poor marketing. The amount of times I doesn’t schooling a person in a parking lot, or even potential Lightning customers at my dealer, is insane. People don’t know and all they hear is the bile spouted out by every wanna be you tube Bs expert.
Remember when Tesla started out and blanketed the airwaves and other types of media with killer ads from the marketing department, educating the public on EVs? Yeah, I don’t either. People figured it out because they wanted the product. They didn’t even need marketing.

Brian, I'm glad you are still watching and reporting back to management. Make sure to report back to them, that EREV will be another Ford failure that will cost the company $Billions. When that happens, make sure they are reminded that nearly everyone on this thread called it before it happened. Or they could just prevent the loss of money by replacing the CEO and/or Board with any member of this community. They have a much better track record than current Ford management.

Disappointing but not surprising, unfortunately. Would love to get some more details on the EREV Lightning. When can we expect information on this replacement, @Ford Motor Company?

This.

I had planned to keep my 23 Lariat for 8 or 12 years and was looking forward to buying a new and improved version in the future. Ford has completely pulled the rug out from under us.
8-12 years in the future? have you looked at what was available 8-12 years in the past? This announcement means very little for what might be available 8-12 years from now.

Still no word on what Ford plans to do to remedy the Home Integration System upon the discontinuation of the Lightning EV. For all the time you've been on the forum, Brian, you still haven't been able to produce an official Ford answer or explain why you can't, in spite of repeated queries and laments from HIS owners. In Ford we trust .... -you want us to believe?

Given the smaller battery likely in an EREV, I don't imagine it's going to provide "Whole Home Backup," and I suspect the Home Integration System will be orphaned along with the Lightning EV. Anything to say about that?

Hard to express how disappointed I am in Ford right now.

We are in the market for a new vehicle in 2026 (to replace our second vehicle). Ford is now off my list. Never buying another Ford again. Voting with our dollar is the only power we have a consumer.

Also, the "we will support it for 10 years" is a cop out. 10 years from now it will be 2035, just two years before the 2037 event when its possible all these trucks could turn into bricks if they dont have software support anymore. Look at what happened to Fisker owners after their vehicles stopped being supported. Vehicles need constant software updates, this isn't the 2000s anymore. Buying from a "reliable" brand like Ford that I knew would still be here in 25 years is what made me confident to jump to EVs in the first place. Ford has now destroyed that reputation.
Wait, what is this 2037 event?
