Last week my frunk wouldn’t completely close. Then it wouldn’t open or close completely. I called the dealer but no one answered the phone. I called roadside assistance who transferred me to, customer relations, I believe. It turns out that there is a relay to a module that has a wiring harness to the latch. The wiring harness has an issue that Ford knows about but they won’t issue a TSB or recall. Also there is a nation wide shortage of this harness and they don’t know when it will become available. Anyone else have a problem with their frunk?

Open the frunk fully (manually) - Press and hold the frunk button until it beeps (a few seconds) - close the frunk manually until the first latch connects. The latch should finish closing the frunk. This process resets the frunk controller for full open and close. If it doesn't operate normally after this procedure, there is a problem somewhere in the system.

That is what I said. Ford told me this is a known problem that they are not reporting to the public. No TSB, recall, nothing. The wire harness needs replacing and right now they are back ordered.

I had a similar issue that we spent a year chasing our tails on. It was more frequent in very cold weather. Most recently the dealership replaced the switch on the lip of the frunk. The dealership performed diagnostic tests on the switch alongside the replacement and saw a big difference in response. I hope that is the end of it.

FWIW, Friendly Ford in Geneva, NY is the selling and servicing dealer. They have been nothing short of spectacular with the level of service they have provided while working through this small but frustrating issue.
