Nov 20 and there's a new OASIS message today with an update supplement to the original Safety Recall for the lightbar (23S30) which provides clues as to what they're looking for and requires that the tech doing the inspection/work send in a pic proving they've discarded the screws and grommets that originally held the lightbar on (factory install)...and instead have replaced those with pushpins. I imagine the pushpins would prevent the lightbar from cracking where the screws could have been what caused cracks and let water in if they were overtightened. That's the only smoking gun I see in this change.

So I'm guessing after they've provisioned all the parts they need to retro fit all of us, they'll be sending out the final 25SB6 message (sometime in January maybe?) that says to inspect the lightbar in accordance with the attached supplemental instructions.

If you've already had the work done and paid for it, see the other attachment as well.

Personally I'm still in the camp of no chance in hell I'm going in for the recall (i.e. using up my recall coupon) until I have a failing light bar that actually needs it. I'm not risking some potentially half ass inspection and letting them on a whim decide if it's correct or not. I'll let time be the deciding factor and if it fails then they get their chance to do it right with a full replacement under the recall.

I was happy to get this recall letter as my light bar went out 4 days before I got the letter. :)

Just noticed today my bar is full of water. Went to the dealer and they said there's no point in them looking at it as they have no direction from ford yet. I asked what if the camera module or backup lights go out? They said i could pay my $100 deductible and have the bar replaced and reimbursed later but most likely will still have the original flaw. Makes no sense to me to waste money and time at the moment. I just hope it doesn't flicker and die out until the recall is set and sent out. I have about a shot glass of water inside now.. i want to drill a hole and suck the water out but Im sure ford will deny any service afterwards.

Ill just put some tape of the bar next time it rains as well.

The original recall 23S30 has been updated with everything they need to know to do the repair correctly. You would still be out the $100 until reimbursed but they CAN do it today. Whether they will is another story

I get so frustrated with these service writers. He was looking for a while about the recall. Im hoping he didn't have this information because it feels like they just try to get rid of you.

So if you got a new lightbar from recall #1, will you automatically get a new lightbar for recall #2, or will you only get one if they see that it was installed using screws and/or shows signs of cracks or water? My guess is that if it was installed with push pins they will give it a pass since apparently installing with screws is what causes it to crack and leak.

If you've already had the work done and paid for it, see the other attachment as well.
From that attachment, not filling me with good vibes that no one proofread this:

"Regarding the specific reimbursement plan for Recall # 25SB6, owners who have paid for service to remedy the defect or noncompliance must have had that service performed before November 31, 2025."

So you have given me a new worry. I just paid to have it replaced as the new recall was coming out - not worried about getting reimbursed, but am worried that the repair was done to the "old" standard, and that the new one may have the same micro-cracks as the old. I would not want to bring it in, have them say "no water present" in an inspection and mark the recall as done, and then if I have the issue in the future, I am hosed again....

I wouldn't worry too much for now. We'll know for sure when they publish the recall #2 procedure. If it says to replace the bar if it's installed with screws then you're good. I don't think Ford is taking any chances, a second recall for the same thing is bad, a third would be really bad. They know that using screws was the root cause of the problem (overtorquing and/or not allowing play caused cracks). If they see screws they will probably replace the bar.

I wouldn't worry too much for now. We'll know for sure when they publish the recall #2 procedure.
The recall Service Procedure was posted above.
Step 6 says to "Remove and discard the screw grommets".
Step 9 then says "Using new pushpins, install the new Lightbar....NOTE: Do not install the discarded screws, grommets or push pins. Install the new lightbar using new push pins only." [emphasis added]

So it appears if the truck already has pushpins, the recall still needs to be done.

My question for those getting it replaced now - do the lightbars currently in stock have pushpins or screw grommets? And will the tech "use new pushpins only".

The procedure does require them to take a picture of their work and send to Ford before it can be cleared. "Ford has requested photo evidence prior to completing the repair for this FSA. Prior to installing the tailgate moulding, contact the SSSC and upload a photo of the VIN and a photo showing the lightbar correctly installed with the required pushpins. Upon approval, the SSSC will provide an approval code that must be used for claiming. See the dealer bulletin for further details."

This would be good one for Mobile Service as you can verify with the tech what they are doing.
