I like your reasoning. Lack of an instrument cluster behind the steering wheel is a "simplification" that I can't get my head around.
I'm interested in Rivian and Hummer. The Rivian is likely more practical, but the Hummer is bold.
When the Rivian was introduced, that was my first choice. But, too small for me like a Tacoma.

I initially ruled out the Rivian because I believed that it couldn't carry plywood flat. I've since been corrected on that. I'd have to take a closer look, but it appears to be adequate for my needs.

I don't my truck in until March 2027, but I have been thinking about it because the time to make a decision will be here before I know it.

If I don't just buy my Lightning, I would check out the EV9, Expedition Max, and Sierra EV.

I don't want to go back to gas, but an Expedition would fit what we use the F-150 for most while giving us a lot of second row room plus room for the large dogs on trips. I like having a bed since we move a lot of messy stuff through the year, but I could work around it.

We checked out the EV9 before I got my Lightning and the family loved it. They just wouldn't get the price low enough, it was about $200/mo more than my Platinum Lightning, so it just didn't make sense. But maybe in 2027 the numbers will be better.

Then there is the Sierra. I work for Ford and have only owned Ford vehicles since I graduated college, so the EV9 or Sierra would be a tough sell overall. But it's the best option to still get a truck with the capability I am used to and an EV, at least until the EREV launches. I need to take one for a weekend though because I rely heavily on CarPlay and I need to see how much I will hate it.

Not an EV to be honest.

Might rotate the wife to an EV and get a gas AT4.

Rivian is my desired choice but too expensive. The GMC models look interesting but hard sell at a lot of money for the bottom trims and poor quality material for it. The dumpster no longer interests me, mostly due to the all looks no substance side of it, but skippys involvement in politics didnt help. Used Hummer? Probably still too expensive.

The Scout would be worth a look but still an unknown at this point.
I came from a 6.2L AT4. It was a beast with the upgraded factory exhaust. Hope you love premium fuel costs lol! $700 in July of this past year with all the driving I did.

I buy a Lightning in September, and then gas prices plummet and the Lightning gets cancelled. Don't follow me for stock advice.....

Gas prices may be down, but it's only after they were way up. And then before that they were down. I have little doubt something will happen to push them up again. One of the things I like about our EVs is at best a gas vehicle could maybe get a bit cheaper to fuel up but never as cheap as it costs me at home, but it's still way slower, still has oil changes, etc., etc. But my price to charge my Lightning will stay pretty constant. Our local utility does raise rates, but they would have to triple the current rate for it to come close to parity with what current gas prices are.

Right now is a great time to buy a Lightning. Heavy cash off and 0% financing available. For me the Lightning is the right truck. The range is great, the storage is amazing, PPO is fantastic and is my homes backup power, the stereo isn’t bad and has great aftermarket upgrades, and it’s fun to drive because it doesn’t weigh 8,000lbs. If something happens to my current Lightning, I’d likely replace it with another Lightning.

Now as a second choice, I’d strongly consider the Sierra EV - Elevation Extended range. That said it doesn’t have everything I want. Same situation with the Rivian R1-T. As for the CyberTruck, I wouldn’t even consider it.
I have been checking and ford hasn’t launched fire sale pricing. I think they are waiting to see if the cancelling results in increased demand at current pricing. Let’s see what the new year brings.

I mean, the pricing is some of the lowest I’ve seen. What specific trim are you looking for?

Lariat. Right now in WA state without Private offers, the incentives are about 11k. No different than end of year pricing or the incentives I got on the Mach-E I just leased. I am happy with my ‘24 Lightning. But if the price is right………………………

also, at least here I have not seen lightnings fly off of the lot since the announcement. Eventually Ford will want to move Lightning inventory.

When I bought my Mach-e, Tesla dropped their price 2 weeks later, then Ford followed suit and dropped the Mach-e price by over $10,000 :headbang:

I purchased my Lightning on the second to last day of the month. On the 1st of the next month, Ford did the power promise promo. Lost out on getting a charger installed or $2,500 allowance. :headbang::headbang:

I know what you're feeling...

There are lots of deals better than that. Found one for $17,000+ off after a 60 second search. Don’t forget the 0% financing for 72 months. Limiting yourself to your state also severely limits your options.

I’m also not sure if it’s worth upgrading one model year unless there’s a killer feature you’re missing. Hell you may actually lose a feature or two going to a 2025.

Update: Here’s another in Washington for $16,000 off that’s fully loaded.
