I got down to 3%, came to a stop sign and, zap, it was all gone. It didn't even want to give me what I was owed.Made it to the charger with this! Oof. Close call.

Are you remembering the Motortrend article?I had read a Car and Driver article that ran an EV to brick status. Even past 0% they got 10-15miles(?). Tried that with a BMW i3. It died on the side of the freeway EXACTLY when it said it would!
I read this article about being stuck at a DCFC that wouldn't charge and requiring a second tow.Are you remembering the Motortrend article?
What Happens When Your Ford F-150 Lightning EV Battery Runs Out of Range?
We ran our F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck’s battery to zero so you don’t have to.

If you die at zero and don't repeatedly try to drive, you should have enough to drive into the stall once you get there.I read this article about being stuck at a DCFC that wouldn't charge and requiring a second tow.
Recently, I was DCFC'ing at a Tesla supercharger, when during the charging session, a Tesla was towed to the chargers. The flat bed lifted his ramp and let the Tesla driver reverse off of the truck and into a charging station. The driver started the charge and confirmed that he was good.
It got me thinking...If I knew I couldn't make it to a charger, would I stop and save a couple percent to reverse the truck off the flat bed, or (in motortrend's case) have some range to switch to a different charger.
