Good evening everyone,

don’t know if it’s a software glitch on the truck but for the past 3 nights when I plug my truck in to charge it says charging error please unplug and plug again wait until clicks if doesn’t resume charging contact help. Thing is it charges fine. Lights stay blue the entire time. My Tesla universal charger is still pulsing green providing power and charging pulling the correct amps. Haven’t had an issue in almost two years with the truck. Weird thing is it doesn’t do it you unplug and plug it back in you don’t get the error and it disappears out of the ford app by morning. Also today I ran home from work slapped the truck in charge left to take my dog to the vet in my other car cause she’s been throwing up but didn’t get a charge error at all from the truck. It only seems to be after the truck sits for a couple of hours and I got outside to plug it in before bed. Any advice? I plan on trying another lvl 2 charger tomorrow by my job to see if it works but again I feel like it’s only when the truck has been sitting a while.

Try doing a "refresh" {pull down swipe} on Fordpass, wait for status to show update, then plug in, my unfounded speculation is stale data.

Could also do a power cycle on your EVSE.

I received a "charging error" message two nights ago...pulse quickens...here we go...drivetrain malfunction...go to garage and blue rings, truck still charging, Tesla level 2 charger still pulsing green...I have only received the message that one time...I am now interested to see if I receive the message again.

Thanks. I will try the pull down refresh. Like I said it charges fine and everything and the error message comes in the message app on the phone but again truck is fine charging and my Tesla universal charger is providing power fine. I was hoping you would comment on this post taxmanhog. I have been following you on here since about two years and knew you would know if it’s an issue or a software glitch on ford side. I’m thinking ford side.

sounds like your in the same boat with me. I’m thinking it’s a software random glitch that started out of no where with the ford pass app cause everything is charging fine. I have a 2023 xlt SR 312a package. What truck is yours.

That is highly possible, I also had some unusual situations recently that I'll attribute to the Ford back end, data reporting glitches that clear with time.

IDK if this relates, but i just recently bought my 2022 Lariat ER 511A Max Tow after turning in my Model Y lease, We have multiple Tesla's in the family, so i had 2 Tesla Wall Chargers, but i kept getting similar issues with random charge errors on the app, but the truck would still charge with a rare red ring error not charging on the Tesla charger using the adapter the truck came with. I bought a new charger (Grizzl-e 48amp) installed outside, so i can charge outside the garage, because the truck doesn't fit in the garage length. I have had no charger error issues with the Grizzle charger, so i dont know if its a tesla charger issue or possibly the adapter causing issues.

A few years back my origional 2017 80amp tesla wall charger started having random issues failing to charge our Tesla's and tesla sent out a mobile tech and after looking into the issue, he stated the charge cable was having a weak ground connection with the vehicle sometimes... So we had the charger cable replaced and that charger has been working fine since with no more errors.

I’ll keep that in mind. Like I said as of right now no issues charging no red rings on truck. No red or different color on Tesla charger. Everything all green.

@beast

I just experienced the exact same thing. Plugged in my Tesla Wall Connector and got a message on Ford Pass “Charging Error” but it’s charging fine with no abnormal indications.

its the first time I’ve charged at home in about 4 weeks. It was charged at the dealership and to 100% 2 weeks ago.

Very strange.

I truly believe it’s a ford server issue on the backend some people on Reddit started randomly having the same issue. I did try to test something last night though. I never use the set charging time to start at a certain time I would always go plug it in before bed so yesterday I decided to set up a charging time for 10pm to see if the error would show up again if the charger is already connected way ahead of time and guess what no error, I believe it’s happening after the truck sits for a few hours then you plug it in I feel like the truck /ford servers are slow on waking up so probably issue on there end

Happened to me again last night...didn't even check the truck...in the app said it was charging...and it was...truck sat for about 2 hours before plugging in. Previous night I didn't plug in and the Wednesday night plugged in with no error message.

I believe this to be the most likely reason. I have a Gen 3 wall connector and a small amazon adapter that charges all the way up to 11KW under normal circumstances. I use a schedule and if I am before the off peak time, the link with the wall connector, engaging the charge, then disengaging the charge and going to standby seems to cause this.

I saw this thread pop up earlier this week but didn’t pay attention to it until now. I just plugged in my 2023 Pro ER for the first time since last Friday night and got the exact same error notification in FordPass.

I also have a Tesla Wall Charger, and I use the A2Z adapter. But the truck appears to be charging just fine.

I almost always plug in every night and charge to 70% but haven’t this past week.

Interesting.
