Can I still buy comma 3? Or can I use this with the old mount that you can screw on the mirror holder? I don't want to stick it to the windshield.

Interesting to see how low comma 3x will sell on ebay now. I just bought the coupler and 3D printed the mirror holder and the sliding part. I hate to glue anything on my windshield.

Ok, lightning adapter arrived update.
I should have waited until the adapter arrived before making my last update, but it's here now, and I've tried it with two known-to-work USB cables, and I'm still getting errors. same errors on the truck and comma as before. The comma shows "canbus disconnected: likely faulty cable," and the truck throws a number of errors that all go away when the comma is unplugged.
I thought it was going to work this time. The comma came up all the way to the point where it was drawing the green path and then a few seconds after came the errors.

I’ve had a hard time keeping all the conversations separate. Have you tried with just the short USB c cable that comma shipped? Obviously you have to pull the device off the windshield for that test.

No worries. Yea that is one of the ones I have been using to test. At this point all my testing is done off the windshield. just have the side pannel open for easy access with all the cables

Let me make sure I'm up to speed

IPMA --> Comma Harness --> Short USB-C --> Comma3X = Errors
IPMA --> Comma Harness --> Short USB-C = No errors?

If that is the case, then you most likely have a bad harness box or Comma3X.

Since this is your initial setup, I'm goign to assume you are in the 30 day return window. You can try to open a support ticket, or just buy replacements and see if they fix your problem. If they do just return the bad item with a sticky note telling them it's bad and you already bought a replacement.

I wouldn't mention that you used a modified harness. ItjJust gives them an easy out. I wouldn't mention the coupler either. Stick to the simple fact that you have a new harness/box/and their short cable and you still get errors.

I was having a similar problem. I turned the lightning adapter end to end and same thing. But when I kept the lightning adapter ends the same then flipped it over, all my problems went away.

I flipped the cable at the adapter numerous times to no avail, flipped the cable at the harness? Success!

With a short cable you don’t need a coupler

The lightning coupler is marked for orientation. Comma goes towards the device and the lightning bolt goes to the truck. The most you should have to do is flip your cable once at either end.

Is it confirmed you can't buy a 3X anymore?

From a standpoint of getting installed and running, you are okay. It is the same chipset and runs the same harness. The mount obviously will not work. If you bought the mount from me, I can do a return for you.

From a software standpoint, BluePilot will not run on the C4 until we get the new logic for the smaller UI integrated, which I'm not sure if Comma has even published that code yet.

supposedly it's the same chipset just a smaller form factor, if they shrank the dies I may be interested since in theory it means less power, less power, runs cooler. I work nights and my truck is in the open sun in the south, so by the time I'm ready to ride I have to wait for my comma to cool
