My cruise control suddenly started adjusting itself to 85MPH this weekend. Not a safe thing to happen. Anyone else experienced this or know why it's happening?

Switch off speed sign recognition.

It misread a highway route number sign as a speed sign.

Mine misreads a highway 70 sign. Wouldn't be a problem if it were an interstate but not on a 35mph road. Also had where it would slam on brakes because it read a sign on a perpendicular road that was 35mph when the road I was on was 55.

Settings: Driver Assistance: Cruise Control
If you have BC 1.2+, turn off Predictive Speed Assist
For BC 1.0 turn off Speed Sign Recognition

Very few people have found Ford's implementation of this feature safe and useful.

Yup, driving on the service road, it reads the interstate signs all the time, it's the only reason I have it disabled.

I was driving on the interstate, without cruise, and noticed that the truck thought the speed limit was 25. That was enough for me to never turn on speed sign recognition. If I had cruise control active and sign recognition on it could have ended poorly.

My truck does this 85 MPH thing on a short strip of Hwy 1 in Morro Bay Ca. I have learned to quickly adjust speed to bring it down to 65. Our Mach E does the same trick. In the 4 years of driving the roads of the west, this has happened only on this one stretch. I will say that the adaptive cruise control has saved me many a ticket as I roll though small towns that have 35 MPH limits.
