Driver's door lock button issues

I'm having issues with my 2024 Lightning Lariat as far as it sensing and unlocking / locking with inside the handle hand touch for unlock and the black button lock. It works about 1/2 the time

I would try with a fob to see if it still acts up.

Paak is great but is limited by your phone. The bt might not be on all the time and the app might be drawn over by other apps.

Same. It generally doesn’t work unless my phone is in my hand. I’ve gotten used to doing that. Unlocking it seems to work better than locking. If you have the door code buttons you could always just press 8 and 9 together to lock it just as fast or faster.

I find the location of the phone on me matters. When in my left jeans pocket and I approach from my right, I may have to turn slightly so the phone is closer to the door.

When I do that it rarely fails. But if it does then it’s just a matter of opening the app.

Oh yeah and always keep the ford pass app open on your phone.

Also, one time there was a ford pass update and the PAAK was way worse the before. I removed my PAAK and re -enabled it. You can try that as well and see if it improves.

I have the same MY and trim with same issue using PaaK. Unlocking by grasping one of the handles is definitely more reliable but locking using any of the black buttons is usually a miss most of the time. Sometimes I'll try licking my finger but that's also hit or miss. I'll default to the door keypad to lock and gamble with unlocking. Hopefully whatever issue Ford recently found with PaaK is fixed and improves functionality.

I don't (and won't) have or use PAAK, and the black button on my Lightning has also begun to act up these past two months.

On the driver's side I almost always use the Column B code to lock, as it is just so convenient. To unlock, I grab the handle. So, the status of the black button on the driver's side is untested.

I noticed the black button is not always working at 1st try on the rare occasion I lock the truck thru the passenger side, usually when taking the dog somewhere. This had never happened until this Summer. The black button on that door does work by the second or third try.

Mine went from intermittently responsive when using the Phone to lock or unlock the door to totally not responding at all. Both doors on the driver side now will not unlock or lock when using the Phone. They work perfectly with the FOB

It seems there is a BlueTooth Antenna in the driver door handle. Mobile tech came out to house and identified the driver side Bluetooth antenna fault with FDRS.

They ordered a new door handle and it came unpainted, so they sent it off the the paint shop. They are scheduled to install the painted door handle Monday AM at my house. I'll report back after the service call.

Check the passenger side and see of you can reliably unlock and lock the truck with the Passenger door handle. If it works 100% reliably with the passenger side door handle, then the driver door handle internal BlueTooth antenna may be the culprit. That is what mine did. It drove me nuts before we figured it out.

As promised I am reporting back.

The paint does not match. It's a lot more white then the original and the rear door handle. I asked them to get a better paint match or paint the rear door handle on the same side to match the new driver door handle. It would drive me nuts to see the two different color handles on one side of the truck.

I know when I ordered the Star White Metallic Tri Color that pant match would be difficult.

These color handle covers can be switched out, no? It sure seemed so when I had my handle apart once to replace a broken door cable.
