There's this one also, says privacy? Pretinted maybe?

15 / 20 minutes max
Sounds easy enough, set up and cleanup I'd round up to 1 hr.
In order to answer that, I would have to break forum rules on politics, I think you know exactly who and what.
Maybe you're not understanding, I just showed you the price is nearly identical in the usa vs Canada. I don't have to order and have it shipped from stateside, that's my price here. I had to buy a new 12v this spring, cost me $200cad from the dealer, it was lower than what was listed online.

Hello all, My 2024 Flash uses Acoustic glass for the doors. The drivers door glass took a hit from what I assume was a small rock on the highway recently. The crack quickly spread down the entire glass panel. My local dealership has quoted me $470.00 for the glass and $270.00 to Install it. It is just me or is $745.00 a bit high for this. Does anyone have any experiences with having the door glass replaced? Does anyone have a specific Part number for the acoustic glass? Thanks
no. your driving a $60k-$70k truck. $745 makes since to me. I accidentally backed into a fence and broke the taillight assembly... $3000. I had $500 deductible , that's what insurance is for.

Seems a high price to pay.

Not the same window, but I had my left rear passenger door window broken by a lug nut kicked up by a lawnmower. I had it replaced by Novus glass for about $500. I originally called a major glass company, but the appointment was farther out and it was more like $700.

Update: I found that almost all dealership parts counters are adding substantial markups to the glass. Garnet Ford is listing it at over $1,000 just for the glass alone at the parts counter — shame on them.

Shout out to Bayshore Ford for selling the glass with no markup. I pick it up today.

I also found a YouTube video showing the full replacement process, and it can take as little as four minutes. So no, I won’t be paying a $100+ markup on parts, and I definitely won’t be paying $250 in labor for maybe 10 minutes of work. I’m handy enough to handle this project myself, even though it was originally something I was willing to pay to have fixed quickly.

Speaking of “fixed quickly,” I made a 7:00 AM appointment at Sheridan Ford last week to have the glass replaced. The appointment was scheduled five days in advance. After my truck sat in the service bay for six hours, I got a call at 1:00 PM telling me they would have to order the glass and that it would take another four days to arrive.

So even if I had been willing to pay the outrageous price, I still would have needed a second appointment and arrangements to be without my truck for yet another day.

I’m starting to feel that the expansive dealership and service center network may not be as much of an advantage as people claim when comparing Ford to newer manufacturers like Rivian, Slate, or Scout.

As I mentioned in my post above, while the glass replacement is easy to do it's even easier with two people, one on each side of the door. Good luck!

Except the online dealers, like the one I gave you.

It was NEVER an advantage, it is an outdated concept designed originally to shift the liability from the automakers but the dealers association became so strong and are in the business of looting as much as they can from the customers. They have no skin in the game, they solely exist to make this process more complicated and expensive.

It is needs to go to the direct sales model.

Ford and all the automakers have an excellent opportunity now to make direct sales only for electric vehicles but I don't think they are interested in that model which is a shame.

Ford tried but the dealerships threw a tantrum that would make you think the world was going to end.

And I believe it is not allowed in some states.

Yes. The answer is yes. The soundproof glass is only part of the reason EVs are very quiet to begin with. So yes, one really does need sound proofing windows.

Oh.

I asked AI why and AI says the F-150 has that sound proofing because EVs are so quiet (no ICE noise) that the road noise becomes more apparent - isn't it ironic don't you think?
---
EV Silence: Without the noise of a gas engine, road and wind noise are more apparent, making sound dampening essential for a serene cabin experience.

Enhanced Comfort: These windows reduce noise fatigue on long drives, contributing to a "premium," quieter ride, similar to luxury vehicles.

Security: Laminated acoustic glass is harder to break through than standard tempered glass, offering improved protection against "smash and grab" thefts.

Improved Audio: By isolating the cabin from outside noise, the sound system’s audio quality is enhanced.

This laminated glass, which consists of a specialized acoustic vinyl layer between two sheets of glass, lowers cabin noise by up to six decibels.
---

Too bad it is so expensive though.
