I've been seeing something lately that is happening often enough to see a pattern. Wondering if anyone else is noticing the same.

At home I have a FCSP that has the switch dial set to 48 amp max charge rate and it's fed with a 60 amp breaker with less than 10 feet of THHN in conduit between the panel and the FCSP. My '24 Lightning has a 48 amp on board charger. I am on a Time Of Use rate such that my low rate starts at 2100 each night so I have the location setting for home set to only charge from 2100 - 1600 every day.

This is now happening most of the time. If I plug in prior to 2100, I will almost always first show Waiting to charge at 2100, and after about 30 seconds, I get a charger error - as reported by the Ford App. Most of the time, the indication on the truck is that the ring of lights goes out. Disconnect and reconnect does not help. Power cycle the FCSP does not help. Waiting till after 2100 and disconnecting the reconnecting almost always results in a normal charge session.

Friday night, when in the charger error state, after 2100 I disconnected, and just waited. While disconnected, the FCSP appeared perfectly normal (Blue light). After a short wait, I got the red ring of lights on the truck, but that cleared after about 30 seconds. I then plugged back in and charging started and continued normally.

FCSP Software version: 2.112.125:3.15:3.15:3.15:3.15
FCSP Model name: 1.0.0
FCSP Model number: 8EM1314-8CW16-0FD0
FCSP Firmware version: 5.0.25

Any thoughts?

You have the current FCSP software levels, at least that is what I have as well.

I haven't tried deferred charging sessions in quite a while, I'll experiment in the next couple days, we have another trip to Boston medical center Wednesday, I'll plan a delayed recharge Tuesday & Wednesday evening with the same time frame. I'm running a 2022 ER with an 80 amp OBC.

Have you checked for a conflict with preferred charging times between the Ford app and the truck settings?

I always set that kind of stuff from the phone app, so I went out to the truck to check. Both truck and phone app show the home location to be 2100 - 1600 both weekdays and weekends with a charge setting to 85%

My Duquesne Light EV rate starts at 11pm and runs to 6am.
For the longest time the Ford Pass app would not let me set 11 pm until 6am. To get it to take I had to use 12am to 6 am.
With FCSP set to 80 amps that usually wasn’t a problem.
About 6 months ago I tried 11pm to 6 am charge period and it was accepted.

I‘ve learned to treat the FCSP as a dumb EVSE and not expect much.

In the 16 months I have not had this issue until a month or so ago, and now it's happening regularly enough that I was seeing the pattern.

When I was working, starting at midnight would have been a bit of an issue. I left for work at 0530, and I have a one lane driveway and I have to be in the rear spot for the charging cable to reach. That means I have to play car shuffle to get out when I charge (kinda a pain). 5.5 hours would be right about 55 KWH which is enough to make up for my 52 mile round trip commute about every other day - so it would just be a hassle for me. Now that I'm retired, I'm not normally leaving anywhere close to that early most days (he says with a smile).

I have the same software and firmware but no problems with mine.
Once I had the red ring error but no idea why - I cleared it by pushing the button on the charge port.

I have a 2023 Pro SR battery.

Do you have all the OTA's? There was at least one that related to the charge port. Maybe that messed things up?

When you get the red ring on the truck and the error from Ford app, what does the FCSP show?
Any error light or is it blue?

Since you have only had it recently, must have been some software change to the truck or the App that's causing it.

Report it as a bug to Ford. I think you can do that from the dash screen menu with recorded feedback.

See pdf for how.
I used it for the PPOB testing I was doing.
Should be the same on the Flash

To be honest, I don't know how to tell.

The only time I got the red ring, by the time I walked over to the FCSP, it was normal Blue.

PS: my most recent one wasin April 2026 and it was called Plug & Charge Improvements - it is the one that maybe affected your truck's charging

OBCC-AS.AU
This software update contains the following key changes: • We’re updating your vehicle’s Plug & Charge functionality to keep everything running smoothly when connecting to a public DC fast charger. • In some instances after this update, a "Service vehicle soon" wrench icon may appear in your instrument cluster and will remain visible until you dismiss it by pressing the "OK" button on your steering wheel, or it will clear automatically with the next ignition cycle. You may also receive a Ford App notification indicating service is needed on the vehicle, which you can disregard. Please be assured this is a visual notification only and does not indicate any functional impact on your vehicle.
The BlueOval Charge Network is North America's largest integrated public charging network. Ford combines multiple charging networks to give all-electric vehicle owners simple and easy access to public charging via the Ford App. Through the BlueOval Charge Network you can find which charging stations are available, check the charging cost, and pay for charging seamlessly. The other one related to the charge port, I got in Feb, was this:

2026-02-13 - PT 25 8 5

Charge Port Functionality and Cold Weather Performance

PT-25.8.5

This software update contains the following key changes:

• Your vehicle's charge port now locks when connected to a DC fast charger. To unlock the charge port, ensure your key fob (if equipped with keyless entry) or Phone as a Key (if equipped) is located near the charge port, or unlock all vehicle doors. Then press the charge port unlock button and unplug.

• We've updated your Primary and Secondary Drive Units to prevent a potential warning indicator light in cold temperatures.

Charge port locking applies to DC Fast Charging only. Level 1 and Level 2 AC chargers can be unplugged without pressing the unlock button.

Big bri not AI posted this on the Mach E forum. @TaxmanHog I await your findings.

Relevant? @Ford Motor Company

https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-charging-with-ford-charge-station-pro.57178/

Or

"Hi Mustang Mach-E owners,

Dropping in with a positive update on a charging issue a few of you have run into.

Some owners of 2025 Mustang Mach-E vehicles using the Ford Charge Station Pro noticed an issue where if a charging schedule was set, the vehicle might not start charging if it was plugged in before the scheduled start time.

I'm happy to report that we are rolling out an over-the-air (OTA) software update to the charger to address this. Please make sure your charger is connected to Wi-Fi to receive the update and ensure it is not plugged into your vehicle. Here’s some additional guidance on how to connect your vehicle to Wi-Fi.

To confirm your charger received the update, you can download the Ford Charge Station Pro app and select the “About” tab under “Station Details”. The correct software version is 2.500.34-ford.27+26-08. If you don’t have it yet, you should receive it soon.

Thanks for your patience and for the feedback you provide here in the forums. It makes a difference.

If you continue to have any trouble with your charging experience, please give the Customer Relationship Center (CRC) a call at 1-800-392-FORD (3673) to get it logged and looked at.

Brian, (Not
AI), From Ford"
