Fold down shifter stuck on day 1

Had possession of truck for 25 hours and 15 minutes and the fold down shifter lever is stuck and won't move so I can't get it out of park. Roadside Assistance Tow to nearest dealership for fix. Anyone else seen this?

Pull you negative 12v battery cable for few mins. Others have reported success by doing this.

Thanks, I did see that online and was about to try it but the service manager from where I bought it advised me just to let roadside assistance take it to a dealer nearby because the battery reset probably won't fix the root cause. Evidently there's a board or module of some sort that likely needs to be replaced.

Many have had issues with the "shifter module" requiring replacement, but I thought they usually present as a powertrain error? Hope it's a quick fix

Just a point of perspective, this is known issue in all of the late model F150’s and not just the Lightnings.

Hmmm, that doesn’t sound like what we are referring to here. We are discussing the Gear Shift Module or GSM. What you have appears to be how an ICE truck shifts gears once in Drive, i.e., the automatic transmission. That is controlled by the PCM or TCM.

Is that AI?

Yours looks jammed a bit up from the normal folded position. Any chance there is just something under it that's jamming the mechanism?

Some are simple glitches, others are bad shifters. Mine is a 2023 Lariat ER that I've had for nearly 2.5 years and I had a couple of glitches in the first few months, then it just went away. It may have been a software glitch or physical burr on the mechanism that just worked itself out. Once I did a 12v reset to clear it, and a couple of times just folding and unfolding reset it.
2 symptoms: 1) wouldn't shift out of park - no error message that I recall. 12v reset fixed it 2) Detents were out of whack and shifting was a pain to find the gear. Folding/folding cleared it.

No problems in more than 2 years since the initial glitches.

Sorry, yes it is, and folks expound on AI, my query was for shift module on F150's and that was the result, I'll look again for GSM, see what that shows, probably more garbage data.

Thanks. I found that out about an hour ago. TSB says to replace the module that controls the shifter. Dealership ordered one and cleared the problem temporarily so I can drive it until it comes in. Just can't lower the shifter until then.

Yeah still garbage. Just says the F-150 is made in KC and Dearborn, and by the way, it includes that part.
