Mercedes is dropping telematics on my wifes 2017 E300 on 1/1/2026, I'll assume hers and other older Benz's are losing remote features all because of communications technology and services from their chosen provider.

iOS 26 is out today, and there will be a newer, more advanced version of CarPlay coming along. Maybe the FordPass 5.28 update has some relation to the latest version of iOS?

Speaking of CarPlay, i've noticed a recent development since my last OTA update where my Carplay will stop playing my Amazon music when I put my truck in reverse and go to my SiriusXM. Has anyone else seen this?

We lost all communications on our Leaf the year before we sold it. Old technology was no longer supported by modern mobile networks. It's going to happen.

I wasn't surprised Nissan didn't have a fix for the Leaf. I'm sort of surprised Mercedes doesn't have an upgrade path.

That’s my guess. They updated the app for iOS26 compatibility.

Yep. This happened with our daughter's Benz as well.

Harley-Davidson dropped the telematics and app support for my ELW Livewire less than 3 years into the ownership experience.

Hey, I’m not complaining. Compared to the Kia app, it’s like this app is from the future. It’s sooooo much better.

Let’s compare to something more advanced like Tesla, that is the future. can use all the cameras to record for safety and security. Not Kia.

I don't know what the current state or accessibility of this is, but the FordPass API is/was accessible and was used by people to pipe info about their trucks into Home Assistant. A main problem was accessing the API more frequently than Ford would tolerate and getting locked out of FordPass.

THey have absolutely locked it down.. Ford has lost their mind.. Its stupid what they have implemented. They treated me like enemy #1 when I never did anythign bad all I did was fix countless issues that their company (Dealers) couldnt.

What? All I said is the FordPass app was better than Kia. FordPass could be worse. That’s all I’m saying. I never said it was like Tesla, but it’s certainly a lot better than other OEMs.

I assume it was this update? I noticed today Apple Maps alerts you when you are coming upon any railroad track it. It was kind of interesting and kind of weird!
I wish it would tell people to quit texting or doing whatever with their phone and pay attention to driving their vehicle! I quit counting how many I had to avoid swerving into my lane today!
