So we are getting a rare snow storm in Tucson. Had over 2 inches at my house and it was still coming down on my commute. When I got to the freeway, it had turned mostly back to rain but still had a mix of snow flurries. There wasn't much traffic and roads where still in good shape so I tried to turn on cruise control. Got a warning that the forward collision sensor was blocked and it could not engage. Could it be from snow build up? I'm not used to driving through snow so I'm not sure what to make of it.

That's exactly what it's from. I get it here in the Northeast all the time when its wet/snowy conditions while driving. Just need to clear the sensors off and it will be fine.

The radar transducer to the right ( as you look at the front of the truck) or drivers side adjacent to the license plate bracket, clear that area off.

I tend to shy away from using cruise control in inclement weather, but was curious to see how blue cruise handed it. Guess it was coming down a bit more than I thought. Thanks guys, I feel better that is at least shouldn't be an issue. Supposed to be upper 40's when I leave work so should be all clear.

Sweet, I was wondering where the sensor was.

You'll get this warning in heavy rain too.
Yes correct!

During the unprecedented heavy rains the past week, my Lightning would alert me of the same....

I've had cruise control in previous cars do crazy things in monsoon rain. It is important to know that the forward sensor will not aid in braking in these situations. Gotta remind myself to give even more room.

I mounted a Vanguard "brush guard" on my truck. Now when I start, it says the front sensor is blocked. SInce it not only controls the collision software but also the adaptive speed control, can the sensor be moved to the front of the "brush guard?" I got it after having an encounter with a big deer at night and my insurance almost totaled the truck but paid for the fix to the tune of 20k.

Wow, that brush guard is a monster. So this is the sensor. Unfortunately, it’s not something that’s meant to be installed externally. Perhaps you can cut out part of the brush guard to let it transmit through it?

Question: does it fold down? How does the frunk open?

I had to make an extension on the bracket that Vanguard supplied. I measured the distance to the frunk opening and it clears. If I still had my old electronic gear I probably could figure out the radar beam angle and cut a hole for it. But it would make the "brush guard" look wonky. The schematic for the sensor seems straight forward enough. Plus at 450 bucks, not to expensive. Maybe I should talk to the local Ford dealer and see. Since it comes with a bracket, I could make a custom enclosure for it. A plastic mixing bowl.
