came home from a short trip running errands. parked like normal in our carport and locked the doors. I went inside for 20-30 minutes and came back out to walk the dog and my frunk was open. no way did I open it myself. a total mystery.

Did your truck process any updates during that period of time?

Way too many variables to blame the truck. If multiple people had the same issue then it's worth exploring.

Any possibility that somebody else had access to one of the fobs or FordPass app? Was there anything in the frunk that could have shifted a bit after you got out/closed the door and could have pressed the emergency release?

It's very easy to accidentally open the frunk or tailgate or set off the panic alarm when the key is in your pocket. I've done this a few times over the last 1.5 years.

Had the same thing happen two weeks ago. I found my frunk open while parked at home knowing that I had not opened it. Then yesterday when starting, foot on the brake pressing start button, frunk opened. Did not have any contact with the fob or the inside actuator.

If multiple folks starting to have the same issue now, you may want to compare notes with your latest OTA updates.

My unintended open frunk cases have all been self inflicted so far.

Had this happened to me once after I installed the keypad on the door trim for the Pro. Zero chance anyone would be able to open it unless it get hacked.

I've tripped the panic alarm on my FOB several times with it in my pocket, so far have not tripped the frunk open, IIRC this requires 2 pushes in quick succession to send the open command to tail gate or frunk.

FOB was in my pocket all by itself and hadn't touched it since I left the house 30 minutes earlier. Truck, of course was unlocked but no chance a button could have been pushed once let alone twice. I thought I had read someone else who had that happened but couldn't find a thread/post. So I just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced.

Just happened to me today, and there was one other report last week from another owner.

This just happened to me. Got home. Locked truck. Was sitting inside by the window with the truck right outside. Key fob was on the table, not being pressed. The buttons were face down, but no way the frunk button somehow got pressed twice by accident. All of a sudden I see and hear the frunk open on its own. I go into FordPass and it does not show any kind of update.

In almost 3 years of ownership it’s the first time it’s happened to me. Weird.

Edit: I should add that the frunk is totally empty.

I think I can explain my incident as a low 12v battery situation - I had been running PPOB with the truck OFF for several hours as a test and may have depleted the 12v battery SOC.

I usually keep the 12v battery on a maintainer, but may have forgotten to plug it in the day before.

Nothing else I can point to, and it hasn't happened again since.

My key FOB is always in a home-made aluminum Faraday cage when not on my belt key ring when using the truck, so no way it could have accidentally been opened with a double push.

I would not be upset if my Frunk randomly opened with an audible “get in my belly!”
