Other than anecdotes how can one even tell if their battery is being preconditioned or not? Where is the indicator?
No direct indication that it's in process of conditioning or completed the task, but in winter you'll notice the rate of DCFC charging kicks into a high rate much quicker at the start of the charging cycle than if not conditioned in advance.

Yes... so an indirect indicator = the truck's cooling fans will kick in when the higher DC Fast charging rate kicks in, after the truck is plugged in and when the battery is warm enough. This was the same on my old Mach E.

Navigating to a charger stop in Android auto will supposedly preconditon the battery. I don't know if anyone has tested it to verify for sure.
This will become a significant capability, if / when confirmed... as over time all of our NAV free access will run out and, IMHO, most of us will not renew unless the annual renewal price becomes very low. Watching...

It should already be here. A good indicator is in the driver small screen the destination shows a charging icon

?? can You explain please? where in the small screen (the IPC screen?) does this charging icon show up? And under what conditions does this icon show / what must happen that causes it to show up?

Can You post an image of it showing up?

I know my truck pretty well and I am at a loss. I notice Your truck is a 2024 model... maybe it's "2024s and up"?

Pretty sure that's just the standard thing indicating you have a charging stop and not necessarily preconditioning. I updated my ipc and it's really no different other than the charge rate and updated blue cruise animations. You should be able to monitor the coolant mode and temps in car scanner though.

Ford has determined that we shouldn't bother our pretty little heads about it. And also we are far too dumb to handle a "Start preconditioning now" manual function.

Umm yes? If you're using Android auto with percentage, and see the charging icon, that's a good indicator it will be preconditioning. If you perhaps accidentally set it to the parking lot or the Walmart instead of the EA, you won't see the charge stop icon and hence it won't precondition. Therefore it's a decent but not perfect indicator.

You see that indicator whether your 5 miles or 500 miles from the charger. It doesn't just appear when it's preconditioning.

Okay, misunderstood the intent of the question then. I care more to know that it will be preconditioned when I get there, not when it actually starts to "precondition"

Fact - that icon appears regardless, it tells you nothing. 2022s haven't preconditioned, EVER, even with Ford nav, and that icon appears.

Also fact - it WON'T precondition if the charger isn't set as a destination, but it's not the opposite. Without CarScanner running, you have no idea.

It does not tell you "nothing", hyperbolic much?

I will continue to use it on my 24 with my Android auto integration to make sure it arrives at the charger preconditioned. So far since that update I've had great speeds each time I navigated to a charger whereas before the update it was really slow when doing a 2nd fast charge for the day.

Sounds like the 22s not preconditioning ever even with the ford nav is a separate issue altogether.

Maybe @Ford Motor Company can get some answers but engineers may not want to share all the details. Inquiring minds would like to know:

- At what temp is it supposed to begin to heat/cool the battery and what is the desired target temperature or range? And is this supposed to work with ford nav or google maps/AA for all years.

- Sport/tow mode seems to help cool the battery but should it also work to warm it?
