Interesting. So T3 is canceled, too.

So this means Ford is completely getting out of the EV full-size pickup game for a while.

And an EREV means maintenance, right?
Yeah, this is a massive step backwards

Not interested in an EREV (I don't tow) or a smaller truck (I like half tons).

I was waiting for the T3 to replace my 22. I guess I'll be looking at other brands when the time comes, and that's a shame. I love F-150s but I have no desire to put gas in a truck again.

Terrible news.

I'm glad there is still going to an electric drivetrain Lightning. Hopefully the EREV engine can be done economically and low maintenance, and hopefully can be placed under the truck bed like Scout is proposing and there would still be a frunk.

I like Scout's proposed model of offering the same truck with the EREV generator as an option, but I also understand having both options (pure EV and EREV) has a cost and eats into margin. I also note that Scout did say the vast majority of their reservations has been for the EREV model, so that is likely the fat part of the market at this point.

I'm bummed, but honestly the writing was on the wall for a while. I still love my truck and I am planning to drive it for as long as I can. My only wishful replacement was a Expedition sized EV, but doesn't seem like that will happen either.

One final thing I would love for @Ford Motor Company to do is merge all of the model years software such that it doesn't matter if you have a 22-25, we all have the same features. It just makes sense from a long-term support perspective and gives us original owners a bit of goodwill even after you exit the market.

This still leads to oil changes, maintenance, etc that those of us got away from with the Lightning. I guess my next EV will be a Rivian if I ever decide to get rid of my Lightning. So sad to hear our beloved fully electric F150 is done.

You're asking a lot from the company that after 4 years can't keep remote start on if you open the frunk or having more than a 30 min remote start limit 😂

Hugely disappointed. Will never buy an EREV. May have lost me as a customer. I bought into the plan, went to the drive days before launch, went to the factory launch, wanted T3 (and an Explorer EV), went to dozens of EV shows talking up Ford.

I feel like a patsy.

You beat me linking a Freep article by 11 minutes. lol

Hope my Lightning lasts "forever" - not interested in an EREV for the few times a year I'd actually use it - but the mid-size UEV might be enough for me, if it doesn't.

Thanks for the speedy update.

I now know I have a very desirable limited edition all electric F150 without all the headaches of a EREV!! For my use a fully electric full size F150 is perfect, as it will always be to the local service industry folks.

Changing battery technology is coming quickly, that will be important part of any new models.

No one will want to mess with a combustion engine, especially with the coming climate crisis.

Thank you Brian (@Ford Motor Company) for the update - this is greatly appreciated.

Regarding the announcement itself I'm deeply disappointed in the news that Ford has succumb to the misinformation brought on by the oil lobby, mass media, and the loud anti-EV minority out there. This is speaking from someone who has extensive experience with EREVs - a 2015 Chevrolet Volt, which I only run as a BEV as I cannot stand having the gas generator running.

The rest of the World has gone 100% EV while the US Legacy OEMs refuse to take on a leadership role. Funny enough I saw an article that indicated that global sales of EVs this year is a 20% increase YOY with the EXCEPTION of the US which grew 1%.

I love my 2024 Platinum and will be keeping her even closer on a go-forward basis.

Bummer, guess I am now a collector of obsolete tech.

Glad I got those ten year warranties, parts are gonna get scarce if production ceases. Grab yours now folks, I bet the prices will rise accordingly...

@Ford Motor Company thanks for the update! Glad to see you’re not abandoning the electric powertrain completely. I think EREV makes a lot of sense for a full size truck.

Couple questions:

1. when do you plan to release the EREV Lightning?

2. I’d love some more details on the goodwill for early adopters you mentioned. Specifically, for those of us who went the traditional purchase route and our trade values have plummeted. At least the leaseholders can walk away clean. 😉
