Is 12V Battery Covered in Mannequin Warranty

My truck was a demo model that included a six month and 6,000 mile extended warranty; 42/42,000. It's out of the 36/36,000 warranty but inside of the extended warranty until the end of the month.

My truck beeps at me when I start it and has other beeps coming from the IP that ordinarily come from the speakers. The Internet tells me this is Ford's way of identifying a low 12V battery. Assuming my 12V battery is on its way out, is it still covered by my extended warranty? My local dealership says no but she said it without actually looking anything up. Given the propensity of 12V battery failures I figure someone has probably run into this issue.

Also, if you have any advice on getting the 12V to charge, I'd like to hear it. BMS reset? If I need to use a trickle charger I'll just replace the battery. In my experience if a trickle charger is necessary, the battery is no good.

I drive my truck nearly every day. At least twice a week I drive 30 minutes. It's on the charger when I'm at home, which is most of the time.

Did they just give you the standard Ford PremiumCARE extended warranty? It does not include the 12V battery.

I seriously doubt that it will cover it. They will tell you it’s a normal wear and tear item. But could be wrong. It depends a lot on the dealer. Good luck though.

Considering your truck is a 2022, it's LVB has been put under undue stress the past 3+ years with the defective BMS and a variety of load management issues subsequently improved with OTA's.

Just replace it out of pocket, so much less aggravation & drama.

In my experience, on an AGM trickle charger, an AGM battery (or any lead acid battery) can last much longer than the 3 year bumper to bumper warranty - they last long if kept at or near 100% charge all the time. My 2012 Nissan Leaf 12v battery is nearly 14 years old and still going strong. Had a 2001 Ranger battery last over 17 years using a solar trickle charger (it was not an AGM battery).

Some battery chargers have a "repair mode" but require removing the battery from the vehicle to use that mode...reports vary on whether the repair mode will work and it depends on the battery involved, sometimes can take days to repair according to some reports.

If you trickle charge follow instructions and beware of causing sparks with chargers that are not spark free.
