why do these recall software updates have to be done at the dealer? theres no way for these to be done OTA?
This thread is discussing that issue right now!

It takes time to develop an OTA for most fixes, this one should be coming soon™️if it passes the testing phase.

This one has me scratching my head.

This is not a major safety issue, but did rate a NHTSA mandated recall and has been unavailable for 6 months now.

How is that?

My question is how does this affect those of us who have replaced the TRM and installed a factory TBC ? I changed some setting for turn it on and the lines in the module code is not as built .

Yes on the OTA why not question—I completely agree. I’m EAP and mine was installed just fine OTA yesterday—so far so good.

It was quick update ~10mins it seemed like. Hopefully all works as intended now. On another note Tesla just now finally started rolling out automatic vs manual updates—after all these years too lol. Ford has been ahead of Tesla on something all this time haha.

I installed mine yesterday - went smoothly (but I’ve never seen issues towing my horse trailer several times).

It did reset “MyView” but that seems to happen all the time - must be some combined config file on the backend or something…

Now I just want an OTA to retain my 24 hour clock! 🏪

Yes same, it always does this for on my config settings—mostly on it checking the trip A box and unchecking my Trip B box….The OTA on clock is wonky with the time also, I just have to slide the slider clock tab then unslide it once or twice to shore it up. Random OTA stealthy refreshes seem to come through to me unannounced and no warning periodically as well—kinda always wondered if this was the case for others or not.

Some folks in this forum opted in to the EAP. Myself as an early adopter took that route. I am an EAP recipient. Irregardless of that option, EAP, I use the perks that are available to me.
I reside within a 12 mile radius from my dealer. I summoned the mobile service which has worked well for me.
The other reason why I didn’t want to wait for the OTA is that I am using my truck to pull my 23ft camper long distances to the East Coast and the Gulf coast. I wanted that update incorporated as soon as possible.
It took less than an hour to download with the mobile service perk.
As we all know, the Safety Recalls explain the recall purpose and what is available as options to the affected vehicles. Going thru your dealer is an option, also scheduling a mobile service is quicker, within couple days, without having to wait for weeks for your appointment at the dealer.
Availability and the urgency to have the update done quickly was my plan.
Eventually there will be an OTA update.
Another thing that needs to be addressed in this post is that it involved many more vehicles that have the Trailer modules installed. OTA updates by VIN numbers not exclusive to our Lightnings. Talking about making an
“OOPPS”’ update with the wrong vehicle. Is it possible? Yes it is.!!!

Early Access Program.
These are not Beta releases.
It is a perk but you have to follow protocol. You going to have to answer some questions and give a feedback to Ford about the updates.
Questions such as, did you notice any changes and if any were any negative results, have any of your settings changed or dropped, etc.
I don’t know if you can get into the program currently but it doesn’t hurt to ask Ford.
