I thought I would just do the "Front Parking Sensors Unavailable" recall update myself, but now I'm re-thinking driving an hour to take it to the dealership vs. $198 for power supply plus $50 for FDRS again.

Last time I took it to the dealer where I purchased it for this parking sensor recall, I was told "Oh, well we didn't have the time slot big enough to do it" (they said that had something to do with the online scheduling and phone in person scheduling overwriting each other) . So my spouse left it there while they rotated the tires and performed all safety checks for the 10,000 mi service, which had to be done anyway. So $80 later, I still don't have the recall taken care of.

I used to be an automotive technician too.

Where are you located? Someone may be near you with a power supply. Parking sensor is probably ipma related which is the one update where you definitely want a good power supply.

Thanks for the consideration. I live in Yachats, Oregon, on a remote part of the central Oregon coast.

I thought of an idea: I have a leftover AGM battery from a Chevy Volt that is actually perfectly good (didn't need to replace it after all). I could hook that up with a pair of jumper cables and then hook my 10A with 50A boost style charger to the battery to provide the extra oomph to get the update installed.

I would not risk that. The IPMA update is very long. I wouldn't do it without a proper power supply.

If your truck had a bigger 12v battery like the ICE trucks do, I would say go for it. You can try......worse case scenario, you'll have to scramble to get a proper power supply if the module bricks so you can recover it. I don't think it's worth the risk. I know plenty of EV owners that have used this with no issues:

https://www.amazon.com/RV-Converter...420&sprefix=55amp+powers+upply,aps,94&sr=8-10

For $100, It's not worth risking the headaches.

That's $60 cheaper at $94.99 and 55A than the first one referenced above at 75A and $160.00 by RLXXI. I wonder if 55A is sufficient amperage?

Think 75amp and above is recommended due to the updates like the IPMA pulling 60 amps+ for several hours. Haven't seen much on the 55 but know people have had problems on the Lightning with two clore 2320's piggybacked to make 40 amps.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not one to repeat mistakes - that's why I'm on this board. That and to share whatever meager knowledge I can. We have a wealth of former electrical engineers and auto technicians. I can remember when even EVs were simple, a chopper controller, a bunch 6 or 12v batteries in series and viola, you're moving down the road.

There’s no place I can see which updates are pending without specific software right?

55amp is enough, but there is nothing wrong with getting a bigger one if you want.

FDRS 45.5.5 has been released and can be downloaded here.

There is also another less widely known version available, and before anyone asks, I have no idea what the differences are (I am using it though...and it works as expected). If you'd like to try this version, it's 45.6.5 and can be downloaded here. You will be asked if you want to use it with a Ford login or a license code...I think you know the answer to that one.....

Strange that Lightning updates quite often come out on a Sunday...but there it is....today a CMR update appeared in my list. I'm guessing it's the same update that I got for my Mach-E last week, just tailored for our trucks.
Ford F-150 Lightning Lightning Software Updates using FDRS CMR_Update_Lightning-17-Aug-25

Nothing better to do this afternoon so.....I did check to see if this was in my OTA queue and it's not (it was on my MME though).

From experience, this will take 50 minutes and definitely requires a powersupply.

So I'm not sure the TRM update took even a full minute. It was very fast.

As I said above, I expected the CMR to take 50 minutes, but it actually took 40 using a VCM 3.

And I did try to update that pesky ACM....again...and still after not trying for 6 months it went through the motions but still remains on my list after it's all said and done.

This website was down on the 25th of July, so I didn't get to mention at that time that on that day the RFA update that wouldn't clear off my list finally dropped off like magic.
