Not a fan of the Chevy's looks - plus no CarPlay. In fact I think the Lightning may be the only EV truck with CarPlay.

Glad you're ok!

If you don't need the slightly longer range of the Lariat ER, I'd get a Platinum. While the cost differential isn't justifiable to me when buying new, the differential shrinks when buying used.

Keep this new announcement in mind:

I agree a Platinum used is the way to go, got a great deal on mine and love it. Traded my Siverado EV RST for it and its so far more comfortable to ride and drive.

Just put a deposit on a used 2023 Platinum Lightning. Concerned about the announcement yesterday though…
I wouldn’t let that be a deterrent, if you like the vehicle. It will have warranty support, extended battery warranty 8/100k. Along with 10yrs of parts and service from Ford.

Hell it might end up being a collector car in say 20yrs. 😊

Recommendations on used 2023 Platinum vs new 2025 Lariat? Cost over 5 years is pretty close to the same.

2025 Ford f150 Lightning Flash
I would be getting on the internet on the ford build your own site and pick what you want in a new one within 500 miles of you. Look to the small town rural dealers that have one sitting on their lot for months but the big city dealers may be just as likely to deal now. Click on the window sticker of each one to see how it is equipped and also at the middle down at the bottom on the right side of the code is the date that the sticker was printed or around when it was shipped to the dealer so you know how long it has been on the lot.

Since I bot my Flash at 15 grand off sticker (about 75K) on 9-30 which was the last day of the ev credit, I'd start making an offer at 20 grand off sticker and bet you will find some who will take a loss to unload a new one.

I don't know, in light of the death blow announcement by Ford, maybe start at 25 grand off of one as there is more to play with and the platinums and Lariats may be harder to get rid of. I would bet that part of Ford's write off will include reimbursing dealers for various costs. I know of a mom & pop dealer in rural Colorado that had a Flash like mine and they were trying to unload it on cause they didn't have the where with all to deal with the ev credit. It was a white flash with pro power and the max trailer tow package plus a few other things.

If the price over 5yrs is equal, I would go for the 2025.

Yeah warranty will be longer with the 2025. But feature wise I’m sure the platinum has a few more bells and whistles.
I would think if they are cost comparing the few extra whistles aren’t that important.

The 2023 platinum will have a144.3 kwh extended range battery (131 kwh usable) dual onboard chargers, an 18 speaker b&o stereo system and nirvana leather seats. It may be missing the advanced security pack and onboard scales.

The 2025 lariat appears to have the same battery pack with 1 onboard charger, the advanced security pack, active x seating surfaces and 8 speaker b&o stereo system
it may also have the onboard scales??

Good luck with your decision.

The speakers and the leather seats are a huge plus, you probably won't notice the dual onboard charger though if you don't plan on getting the 80 amp Ford wall charger. What may sway you is the heat pump in the 2025 during colder seasons, it'll be a lot more efficient. I don't know how much actual energy is saved from it (i never researched a comparison in the Lightning) but I know the traditional heater uses like 15-20% more electricity on the freeway during these couple colder months compared to not having the heater on.
