MAX TRAILER TOW PACKAGE if not planning to tow?

Two Flash models with nearly identical configuration. One has the max tow package, one does not. Both have all-season tires. The one without the max tow is missing the electric locker.

Additional differences for variation in payload weight by 6 pounds to the truck with max tow.

Yet that truck is allowed an extra 330# in tongue weight because of the additional cooling capacity to 1000# or 10% of the 10,000.

So the bias is much more a factor of thermal management needs then the weight of the features added to the truck.

Exactly.

Payload isn’t impacted significantly by adding the max tow package. Mostly because most of the extra weight of the equipment added to the truck is biased toward the front axle rather than the rear axle (and it’s not a lot of weight). If the rear axle carried an extra 100 pounds of equipment for the max tow package, it would impact payload more directly.

Aside from cooling, what other mechanical differences does Max Towing package have? Different rear springs? I know about the rear locker. Curious about the springs.

It just dawned on me this thread is old {3/9/2024} and subsequent inquiry from last Friday {8/29/2025} stimulates the ongoing debates and refined analysis seventeen months later.

As far as I know the rear springs are the same on all trims.

Towing yes, but what about payload.

I have not dug into it but I didnt belive that max tow improved payload capacity at all.

Sorry, you are correct. When I saw your post my brain went to towing capacity. You clearly asked about payload.

No, max tow doesn’t impact payload.
