New 2023 Platinum Lightning - Needs updates?

I traded in my Tesla Model S in for a brand new 2023 Platinum Lightning. I loved the car but I’m a truck guy and a Ford guy. I still own a 2023 XLT Lightning that my son drives.

The new truck sat on the lot for quite awhile and I don’t believe it has any updates. I especially want the Apple Maps EV route planning.

I called Ford and they’re seemingly clueless. They’re telling me my truck is up to date. That is incorrect, I believe.

Will the truck eventually catch up on the updates? If not, what can I do?

1. Become familiar with this thread: FDRS

2. Do you have a Windows laptop? If not, get one.

3. Purchase an LVB power supply, 75 amp capacity or higher.

4. Purchase or borrow a Mongoose OBD to USB connector.

EDIT:
4.5. Purchase a USB solid state drive for FDRS to USB updates.

5. Download FDRS to your Windows laptop.

6. Re-read the FDRS thread again and search for other threads so that you're comfortable with updating your truck.

7. Update with FDRS.

8. Win ?

Enable the OTA updates. You will be waiting a while but they do happen. I have 2023 Platinum and it’s caught up in a few months.

Apple Maps EV routing will just work. Update your iPhone, in the Apple Maps app settings select your profile and add your car and select your charging network to Tesla Supercharger ( you might get an adapter from Amazon for the conversion, unless your dealer gave you one).

You might have some Apple Maps settings that require the CarPlay to be connected.

I use the Blue Oval charging network from Ford and Tesla is plug and charge.

I also have a 2023 Ford Lightning XLT that my son now drives. The Apple Maps EV routing and my phone works fine in his truck. I never get prompted to connect to vehicle in my truck, yet. Sounds like I can do the FDRS or just wait. I remember when that update came out on the XLT. This truck is just way behind and I’m not patient, lol. That’s a screen shot of my phone with his truck tied to it. I did that as a test to make sure it wasn’t something wrong with my phone.

What I would do is tell the dealer that Carplay isn't working as expected and tell them to reference TSB 25-2048. This directs them to update a TON of modules and would get you the update needed for EV routing.

I connect but the Platinum never prompts me to add the truck like the XLT does. It’s missing the update. I’ll wait or FDRS it.

Update (5/7/2025):
I took my truck in for the TSB provided in this post, and some other things as well. They did indeed bring my truck to the current update revisions! Thank you so much for everyone's help. I spoke to the technician and told him Ford said my truck was up to date. He said "bull$hit", I updated this truck for 8 hours! I said sorry, lol.

On a side note, the frunk software recall broke my frunk completely. It will only unlatch so I can still use it just fine. Won't power open or close. I'm still laughing about that. Ford. They did give me an ESP warranty starting at 75,000 miles for 5 years free. So, kinda happy about that at least. Now, just waiting for a module update for the frunk, lol. They replaced everything else for the frunk already.
