I think the DeWalt style is cool in its own way. It looks like it belongs in the garage of someone who works on hardware, as opposed to someone who doesn't get dirty hands very often, likes white car seats, would prefer to use voice control rather than hands to adjust air vents and maybe shift gears, etc. The big solid looking protective bar is attractive to me. (I'm a klutz.)

Not going to swap my Emporía anytime soon (as long as it keeps working), but I would consider the big yellow box at the right price point. Thanks, tkm, for sharing it with us.

I saw this being sold at my local Home Depot about a year ago.

I have the Tesla universal charger, never had an issue with charging rate or temp with the adapter built into Tesla.

The review is incorrect, I have yet to find any level 2 that I couldn't precon from. Probably didn't have their location set.
Last I knew, the Grizzle Duo had issues with this. Would not feed power a second time to precondition. Supposedly they were going to try to fix that, but don't know what became of it.

Interesting... I gave up on preconditioning because it never worked, and I'm running a Duo in my garage.

Dewalt seems to be licensing more things to other companies. I bought a Dewalt shop fan at Costco and it was missing a part. The fan was no where to be found on Dewalts website. I ended up having to find which Chinese company made it and go through parts with them.

Swapped Tesla for DeWALT. Swap was very easy. Wiring was the same. Mounting was a little difficult with the dry wall anchors. Luckily I had some around the house.

Main reason behind the swap was overheating. Tesla handle and the Lectron adapter were getting extremely warm about 15-30 minuets into the charging session. Causing a temperature throttle from 11kw to 3.5-5.6. Depending on the temperature of the garage. Which most days slow charging was fine but some days I needed some extra juice.

Amazon actually recommended this to me. I took the bait.

Can’t speak about longevity(obviously) but out of the box. I would recommend. Well built(what I expect from DeWALT) Nice cable. Pretty easy install. App is super easy. 48 amp. WiFi. Surge protection. Screen with data. App has a lot of data too.

felt I needed to share just incase someone was looking to switch.

Not sure why one would switch out a Wall Connector for one of these. If you have a decent adapter, it's not an issue.

I have a Tesla Wall Connector and a Tesla Universal Wall Connector with the integrated J1772 adapter. I've never had a problem with either on reduced charge speed.

You'll be using an adapter again or swapping out the charger for your next new EV since NACS is the new standard moving forward.

DeWalt is a registered trademark of Black Decker (since B&D bought the company back in the early 1960's - BTW, they have bought other tools companies, like Porter-Cable and German company ELU).

Yes they 'make' things like saws, drills etc. Of course, manufacturing has become a global thing so, it is hard to define who makes what, Apple makes phones in Asia, for example.

My DeWalt miter saw is very well made. Raymond DeWalt invented the radial arm saw back in the 1920's which he called the ""wonder Worker!" LOL

This is one of his patents on the Wonder Worker technology: https://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?pn=1528536&id=5059

Ford F-150 Lightning New DeWALT EVSE Home Charger - Replacing Tesla Raymond Dewalt patent

Their more modern tools have BlueTooth (named after a Viking King "Harold Bluetooth" the name being suggested by a guy from Intel who was part of a group of techies, later called the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, from several compaies including Intel, Ericcson, Nokia, et al., the name was chosen because the king had united Denmark and Norway, and this tech group was from a number of companies in a number of countries).

My first EVSE was made by GE and called the WattStation, I bought it through Lowes in 2011 for close to $1,000. I had a 2012 Nissan Leaf ordered that was due to arrive soon. It's had a max charge current of 30A. There was not a lot to choose from back then for a residential EVSE. And GE had made residential EVSE's (the Mercury Arc Rectifier electric car charger) since the early 1900's - yes the early 1900's when some of the first EVs were built.

What a beast the MAR was! I'd kind of be afriad to have one in my garage in the early 1900's!
