More truck stuff. Bought an electric ride on mower (can't use it yet because of the rain!). It almost fits in the bed without the tailgate down. Bit nervous driving it up the ramps into the bed as the angle was quite steep.

I've got an electric push mower and brush cutter/strimmer on order as well. With that I should be able to completely divest from using fossil fuels directly.

My first 'Lightning doing truck stuff' post...Had the pleasure of using the truck's Pro Power Onboard to power some sawing up of old decking boards before hauling them to the local dump...

I just love the convenience of hooking up power tools to the back of the truck and not having to drag out a long extension cord. And the F-150's bed sure beats mauling the back of my SUV, which is what I had to do previously for such a job. Go Lightning!

First spring. 30x 3 cu ft bags. Would have been 3 trips to her nursery in the Mach E, then vacuuming it out.

Would have included a pic towing the log splitter for service but I forgot… that I was driving past the shop and didn’t hook it up. Doh. I guess another reason to do truck stuff another time.

Love my cub cadet electric lawn tractor. Headed into 3rd summer with it and don’t miss the gas, fumes or noise. Went w a tractor to be able to use as a tug for a yard trailer and log splitter. Enjoy your greenworks; the brand is on my list for a trimmer replacement, and other cordless yard tools to replace the corded ones.

I learned the hard way - don't saw stuff on the tailgate because all the sawdust goes into the bed and all over the truck.
But it seemed convenient at the time since no extension cord or sawhorses were needed.

And at least make sure of where the blade is. I dug a nice slot in the tailgate of my Dodge a few years ago. Good carbide blade did not even slow down when it hit steel (I was doing a plunge cut into plywood).
And no, the only "fix" I did to the 4 inch long slot was file the edges a little so there were no ragged edges I might slice a hand on later.

I researched cordless electric trimmers quite a bit and landed on the EGO (Model #: ST1623T). I was primarily focused on power, and I've been happy with it.


Side note: the batteries may be interesting for playing with because I don't believe they require any communications to get the power out. They do have a bit of a BMS in them that after a month or two of inactivity will purposefully dissipate a fully charged battery to a lower level for self-preservation.This just means you have to charge it again before use, pretty cool.

You're actually over 1872 lbs! That number at the top is NOT the current weight (a common misconception). It is your load rating. It should match your tire/loading placard on the driver door jamb. A much requested feature is to display the actual weight. The fact your bar is red, not green means you're over. How much - don't know.

Here is my Onboard Scales with Passenger/Cargo off (just me in the truck and a tonneau). Note the top number is 1682 lbs:

Also note the little +150 in blue that you had. That is the Passenger/Cargo load amount. Use it to tell the truck the weights of passengers that are currently not in the truck (because they are loading the truck). It adds this weight to the bar. If you are in the truck, it is measuring you, so turn that adjustment off.

For example, I turn on the 150 lb. adjustment (blue bar appears).

There is also a scale mode - but you need to reset that to 0 before you start. I haven't quite figured it's display out. Kind of a moving estimate - it seems to underestimates my weight.

It can handle quite a bit actually. Although stock set up would not be ideal. Better tires, lift, etc can help a lot. Biggest issue I have with the crawling is the insane amount of power/torque that it can apply making it a bit challenging to control smoothly.

Sure, non-stock it could do a lot.

I had a lot more control in the Lightning than I've had in any of my other gassy trucks. IMO, there's far better torque control since there's minimal resistance to applying torque when desired (no rev sag, no transmission interference, etc). It's all accelerator control instead of two or three pedal control.
