Ford is touting the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature as an added feature for MY23. However, this was a feature that was announced for MY22 as a feature to be added at a later date.

Has anyone seen anything that the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist will actually be an OTA update sometime in the future or will it be added only for MY23 and beyond?

Its on my truck and it works. I have hauled my trailer twice and it is very helpful for adjusting the Weight Distribution Hitch.

Just to confirm, this is a feature where the truck will automatically back up and align the ball with the hitch for you. Is that what you're referring to?

"Pro Trailer Hitch Assist is new to the Lightning and automatically controls steering, throttle and brakes to make hitching trailers easier. Pro Trailer Hitch Assist is standard on the Tow Technology Package, which is available on Pro, XLT and Lariat trims. It's standard on certain Lariat trims and the Platinum trim. "

This feature was originally promised as a Fall 2022 software update for MY22 but the text has since been removed from the MY22 configurator. It's not clear whether they will honor that original promise for MY22.

I'm pretty sure the press release I read said any existing '22 Lightnings with the Tow Tech package would receive an OTA update to get the Pro Trailer assist

Your right, I was referring to the smart hitch feature. I'm not sure that I would need the auto backup to hitch the trailer, the camera's are great, I have no trouble backing the truck up to the hitch.

I am purchasing a used 2022 Lightning Platinum. I am curious to know if the Pro Hitch Backup Assist OTA software update did roll out to all Lighting with the Tow Technology package? Thanks

Not that I'm aware of, I've seen a live demonstration of it in April of 2023, they were not sure when the OTA for it would come, but hoping it would be at the end of 2023, keep in mind they also anticipated Blue Cruise 1.2 / 1.3 at that time ..... and we're still waiting for what now may be BC 1.4.

So I’m gonna bring this old thread up instead of starting a new one…

I have a 2023 Lightning Lariat ER with Tow Technology Package. I have the Pro Trailer Backup Assist, but it doesn’t seem to have the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist enabled.

It doesn’t seem not ask me if a trailer is already connected when I hit the button, it just goes to the list of trailers to choose.

I’ve seen some forscan edits in the ice forum that might enable it. Do these work for Lightnings?

I made the changes to IPMA and APIM that are on the ICE forum, but couldn't find the right changes needed for ABS, so I didn't make the change. When I hit the button, it asks if a trailer is connected, but when I select No, it then says that pro hitch assist is not available.

We need to find the right ABS change.

Yes, I did see that but the original lightning setting for ABS were completely different and weren't listed on the FORSCAN spreadsheet so I was hesitant to make the changes.
