PU-Sync-25.2.1.6.5 - Walk Away Lock Toggles UPDATE POST# 95

@RiqRod borrowed one of my Mongoose cables yesterday to update his truck. Coincidentally, Ford sent him this APIM update yesterday while he was updating other modules on his truck. He didn't get the toggles for WAL on his touchscreen, either. I plugged into his truck to make some other FORScan changes just a little while ago, and for whatever reason, I brain-farted and it didn't occur to me to add the toggle to the APIM, and I was in his APIM making other changes. I even mentioned this thread to him.

WAL is still working for him, though.

i guess i need to read up on the mongoose, i’ve done forscan before….
These updates, or lack there of, are driving me insane

How is the Mongoose? I normally use the CarDaq3+ for programming of other manufacturers. I have the VCM3 for Ford. Some of my coworkers use the Bosch VCM, but I don’t like those.

The CarDaq is made by the same manufacturer that makes the Mongoose, but it is better than the Mongoose. It writes faster. The Bosch (if it's a VCM3) is also faster than the Mongoose. I believe the Mongoose is equivalent to a VCM2.

Another recipient of SYNC-25.2.1.6.5 that hasn't had the prerequisite updates to enable WAL. My last update was DDM-25.12.0 on 10 April.
Seems Ford could really stand to learn order and priority of their updates. Anyway, I'll just keep waiting for the surprise notifications about updates.

That's because you still need the BCM updated. Same thing is happening with people getting the APIM update that adds the toggles for lane change and the other BC 1.4 features, but they don't have the update for the IPMA to allow them to actually work.

And here I thought the Sync update would finish the job. I'm amazed it takes three separate module updates to get this to work.

For BC 1.4, it really only takes the IPMA update (if it works the way it is supposed to) to make it work. The APIM update for the toggles is not needed for lane change etc to work; just needed to be able to turn it on and off. The 3rd update I mentioned is only necessary if the IPMA OTA update does not work as intended.

Sorry.....yea, I mixed things up. This is a step-process process. The BCM update gives you WAL and the APIM update gives you the button to turn it on/off.

thats the audible lock setting. I turned mine off and has been quiet since.

Mine audible locks have been turned off since day 1 and are still off. That doesn't control the honking from the Walk Away Locks. WAL honk is a separate control found under the WAL controls that still don't appear in my Vehicle settings.

Yes i was referring to the same option under Walk away lock tab. It seems this update didn’t do as the change log suggested to bring out the option.

I had my tab enabled manually long ago with the forscan tweaks so I wasn’t aware the update didn’t work.

When you have everything, it will have two Audible Feedback toggles:
1) In the WAL section, there is an Audible Feedback option that only appears when you enable WAL.
2) There has always been a separate Audible Feedback for when you use the fob. It may also silence WAL as well; I don't remember.

Like most of the others here, I got the notification about WAL, but it has been silently working for a while now, no controls available. But, since I got the OTA, it doesn't work anymore and still no controls to turn it back on.

I just got the OTA update as well. Nothing changed on my screens either. I did get the WAL feature from the EAP and it still works so far. Hopefully the screen controls are not too far behind.

Funny you should ask. When I woke up this morning, I woke up a little faster than usual when I read this on my phone.
