Hello all,

Just dropped my 2022 lariet off for service getting a power train malfunction and decided to get my rear light bar taken care of since it has condensation trapped in it but was told it's not covered under warranty?

Anyone one else have to deal with this? I know there was a recall for 22 and 23 lariats for condensation in the light bar but my VIN doesn't show up under it online.

It was an actual recall so check the nhtsa site. It was probably done before if you bought the truck used.

Hate to tell ya, for me at least, the recalled part did not fix my problem. I’ve had mine replaced 5 times since taking delivery in June of ā€˜22. Try contacting the Ford Ev team for assistance in the matter

exhaustive thread on the matter here. https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/water-in-rear-light-bar.13176/page-13

After nearly 2 years of being ok after having the recall done, my replacement light bar ended up filling with water again. Luckily I noticed before exclipsing 36,000 and my dealer handled it with no grief. They did have to capture photos and send to Ford in order for Ford to agree to replace under warranty.

Here is where I am at right now...

I noticed the issue well before the 36k warranty was up but since there was long wait at the dealership for service I figured I'd just do it when I had my 40k service done, not realizing that my certified pre owned warranty does not cover the light.

Called Ford EV team and they just keep saying it's not under warranty even though it happened before the original warranty expired. Anything @Ford Motor Company can do? Seems like this is a known issue since there was a recall.

Yes. Try reaching out to the EV team for on this forum. They can’t directly do much but they may be your best bet. It’s obviously an issue still and it ain’t cheap. Sorry your dealing with it now

It's pretty amazing that anyone on the Ford BEV team would say it's not covered. They should be assigned elsewhere.

It was kind of weird. The Ford EV guy just kept repeating "well, you're not covering under warranty so I don't know what you want me to do." I thought it was a pretty reasonable request.

It's funny. I thought I was being practical waiting to take care of it during my 40K service.

I just happen to have this power malfunction warrning happen at the same time. They said it's the gear shift lever but they just replaced that recently.

You noticed it before the 36k warranty ended, but did you report it or get it documented before the warranty expired?

There isn't a lot a dealer could do if it wasn't reported until after the warranty expired.

Report it to NHTSA. If the updated design is also failing then Ford needs to do another design update and recall them again.

Here’s the official recall:
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RCLRPT-23V418-7566.PDF

I would first check the part number on the light bar you have. If it matches, I’d point them to the part number and this recall.

If you have the updated light bar, I would file a report with the NHTSA and use the exact same language as what is in the original recall.

I’m not a fan of being a pain, but if it was a safety issue then, it is a safety issue now.

That said, I am not familiar with the remedy. It is theoretically possible that the fix prevents the flickering, which makes moisture just a cosmetic issue due to wear and tear and not a safety nor functional issue. If that’s the case I would understand why it wouldn’t be covered.
