Was browsing my state Plugshare map and noticed a review by a Silverado EV at a RAN station. Upon checking Rivian's website, it appears that they've completed the necessary upgrades to many stations to allow non-Rivian EV charging. I hadn't noticed a recent press release (in 2025) about the roll-out, but the map is clear. Very excited to have more DCFC changing options in central-northern Lower Michigan!

Has anyone used them? Is it like most other providers so you need an account with Rivian with a credit card on file or you can just use the credit card at the charger with no previous setup?

/I hope more of them become available to us as we go along.

I’ve looked at a few but they are just so expensive! I’d probably only use them if in a real jam. Stick to SC they are generally quite a bit cheaper and reliable.

In Oregon, the only Rivian chargers that are open to other marques is in Astoria. At least that is what the Rivian website says. Other "nearby" open chargers are in central CA and Montana. So clearly have not pushed the software out widespread. Will have to continue using EA and Tesla when on the road for now.

just use the credit card at the charger with no previous setup?
No previous setup needed.

Used a Rivian charger near Lansing, Michigan about 6 months ago when they first started opening up to other vehicles. No membership or app needed. I did Apple Pay at the reader on the pedestal. Could have easily swiped/tapped a credit card.

It was a good charging experience. Glad more are opening up.

Was .53 kWh for me. .40 kWh for Rivian's.

A Rivian charger saved me during a recent 4200 mile round trip excursion. Pulled up to an EA station in Eastern Colorado, and about five minutes in the station just died. The entire bank of four stopped communicating. I'm assuming EA was having a larger issue, because I couldn't get customer support on the phone.

Off to my left was a newly installed set of chargers that I didn't recognize. Pulled up to them and it was Rivian. Tapped with Apple Pay and was good to go. Great speeds, but it was pricey. It was around 60¢, but I didn't care as long as it worked! Charged up for 20 minutes and was on my way.

Thanks, Rivian!

I tried. There are a bunch of Rivian chargers in Freeport (they are on the map). I tried plugging the Lightning in when I was there in December, and got "Incompatible" errors both on the charger and on my screen. Maybe they hadn't opened the network yet.
On another note, does anyone know whether or when these chargers start to show up in Google Maps/Android Auto or ABRP?

The Rivan chargers that have opened to all EVs at Cookville TN , which is a good location for my Boondocking adventures, charges Non- Rivans .73$. That’s pretty pricey.

I’m glad Rivian chargers are now open to non-Rivian’s. It’s always great to have additional options.

I remember during Memorial Day when all the Tesla chargers were full and even had a waiting line. While the Rivian chargers were still available.

In my honest opinion, I feel like Rivian chargers tend to be more of the reliable CCS chargers, that I’ve personally used.

I can easily hit 213 kW using the Rivian charging network. The other benefit is having the Rivian charging network in remote areas like national parks.
