Hi F-150 Lightning owners,

Thanks to folks in this forum, our team has been made aware of an issue with Phone as a Key for some Samsung users and wanted to let you know that we are working on it. You can still access your vehicle with your key fob or door code.

While we work on this, if you’d like an immediate fix to use the feature and have your physical key fob with you, you can:
• Go to your FordPass app
• Delete your Phone as a Key
• Set up Phone as a Key again

Again, please make sure you have your physical key fob with you before you attempt this.

The team appreciates your patience and understanding.

Prompt on FordPass for a PAAK update on my Samsung phone this afternoon:
Grab your FOB, Phone & follow the instructions in the app.
I needed to create a new passcode for emergency starting should I lose the FOB or phone.
I did not need to change the door code.

Easy update that only took a couple of minutes. Well executed from the FordPass app. Was getting tired of having to enter my backup code. Was going to remove my key this weekend when I was home with my fob, but Ford pushed an update. As Taxmanhog pointed out, did need to re-enter a backup code.

Doesn't work. My key was deleted, but it will not connect back up to the truck.

Key issues wa fixed for me after I reinstalled the key with fob. However every time I start the truck now I get a notification my cell phone battery is low. This used to only happen when 15% or less now it's every time I start the truck even if my cell battery is at 60% just some extra bugs to work out I guess?

My Fordpass had another alert to do an update, also got an email regarding this.

When I clicked the phone notification it brought me to Fordpass Vehicle tab, with no additional prompts to revise the PAAK certificate.

No message in the 'Messages' center.

hmmmmmmmmmmm, is this a ghost alert from last week?

I logged out of Fordpass, cleared only cache and force stopped, rebooted the phone, restarted Fordpass, logged in again, no prompts to revise the the PAAK certificate.

Tested the current setup, PAAK and WAL are working normally.

Since I'm a user that "ALWAYS" has the FOB, I'm not worried that a subsequent failure may occur, the PAAK feature is rarely used w/o my FOB nearby.

@Ford Motor Company is this just a redundant communication?

Should those customers more dependent on PAAK certificates do a manual removal & reinstall after having done so in recent days?

I got my PaaK back. I had to clear the data, uninstall and reinstall the App, then go through the motion in the App.

It would be helpful if @Ford Motor Company would be just a little bit more descriptive...

What issues ?
If you're "working on it" but we can fix it immediately by simply setting everything up all over, then why is there a need to work on a fix ?
Is the fix expected "Soon" ? 😉

While my PAAK works well otherwise (S25 Ultra) the range is horrible, if I walk from the driver's side to the passenger side with the phone in my pocket it'll lock using WAL.

I don't know - but I know some folks to ask and attempt to find out.

1. Is it the issue where sometimes it locks when you're 5ft away from the truck and sometimes it doesn't lock even though you're 200ft away ? Because, if it is then, that haven't been fixed.

2. Is it the issue where it flat out ignores you grabbing the door handle (welcome light lights up but it won't unlock) ? Because, if it is then, that haven't been fixed.

3. If it is the range issue, then yes, that seems to have improved, but it only brought back the old / pre-existing issues, at least that's what it looks like from my "tests" this morning.

The range of the fob isn't much better. I was standing at the frunk loading school bags and my son was unable to get the truck to unlock with the handle.

I have PAAK enabled on my phone, but I always carry my fob/keys. Have not seen a notice on the FordPass app to re-do PAAK setup yet. Using an S23+

I'll continue to ignore at my own peril.

I did another PAAK only test after all to make sure that configuration from Saturday was still good, it's not.

I manually deleted the old PAAK KEY, cleared cache and user data in Fordpass, logged out, rebooted the phone, started Fordpass, signed in again and this time was presented with the prompt to configure PAAK.

Followed all the steps, I was able to reuse the most recent version of my backup passcode to manually start the truck in the event of losing my FOB and Phone.

Retested PAAK as the only device, it worked.

Retested no devices / or FOB present, my backup code worked as expected.

All seems to be good now.

Something changed a few months back.
Granted, I haven't used the key since I got WAL 6-7 months ago, but something changed for the phones maybe 2 months ago.

Does anyone know where the Bluetooth antenna is for PAAK?
Is that the one inside the center console or use that just for the key ?
