I received WAL more than a month ago. BC 1.4 last night.
The toggle update is OTA Update "SYNC-25.2.1.6.5". Hopefully you get it soon. Many of us in EAP got it months after the BC and WAL OTAs. Note it does not require an inhibit or to be scheduled. It should update during a short drive once it is pushed to you.

Your Sync version will then be 25094, Revision 1779.

I read through this whole thread and only saw one post with similar behavior as mine.
I have a ā€˜22 Lariat. I got the ā€œWAL Updateā€ a week ago, give or take. WAL has never worked or been enabled to my knowledge. I have the toggle switches now, but when I toggle it ā€œonā€ it promptly reverts to ā€œoffā€. I’ve tried it multiple times with the same result. I’ve power cycled the truck, forced a reset on Sync…still no dice.

Anyone else having the same issue. I’ve had the karaoke app for months and BC1.4 for about 2 months as well…though I’m unable to use it at all on Maui…one of those things I’ll just have to suffer without here (I say tongue in cheek). Seems there may have been 2x updates for WAL, one that was the BCM and one APIM. Is it possible I got the APIM and not the BCM??

I used FDRS and updated APIM. This added the WAL toggle. Like you I toggle to "on", but it promptly returns to off. I assume the BCM needs updated as well. FDRS shows BCM update available, but I don't have credentials to load.

I received my second WAL update that added the toggles not long after the first. I'm in the EAP though. Hopefully you get it soon. Having WAL enabled with the truck the in the garage can be annoying. They need to have an option to exclude it at home. Shouldn't be hard since they have charging locations geocached.
Geofencing the WAL should definitely be implemented. It’s not a problem for my truck because I leave the fob in it when garaged. But since I use PAAK on the Mach-E, it locks and I occasionally trigger the alarm walking through the garage when I’m not carrying my phone. Total PITA.

You can check your update history here: https://www.ford.com/support/software-update-release-notes-history.

If you got Priority Update - Vehicle Systems / Vehicle’s Infotainment Experience (SYNC-25.2.1.6.5) then you just got toggles. To get the actual functionality you need to get the one that has BCM in the description and probably says it was for the frunk.

Have people noticed a behaviour in WAL before / after the cleanup ?

I had WAL for a few months prior to the "cleanup" update and I could walk 20-30 yards without it locking, post "cleanup" it locks even when walking from the drivers side to the passenger side.

In the past I had no issues unlocking, but post update I have to take my phone out of my pockets fairly often.

Same phone, case, everything else...

More wishful thinking than anything, but...since this has left EAP (and I do not seem to get OTA updates) - if going FDRS route, I'd still be forced to get BCM update via dealer, correct? That hasn't been side-stepped/superceded via another FDRS updateable method (now) since this release?

According to people that issue credentials for professional locksmith, yes you have to have a business license, and be insured before they will give you the credentials to do BCM updates.

Yeah, there's no geotag link to WAL or anything else for that matter.
The closest you get to using geotag is known charging locations.

I sometimes wonder how much of half-baked implementations is a business strategy, I mean, if my '22 had "everything" theres no need for me to upgrade.

But if newer models have better functionality / features then perhaps that's enough to get me and others to upgrade - so don't bother making it perfect the first time or you won't be selling any upgrades later.

WAL went from not ideal to much worse with the recent change in sensitivity. I wish there was a "advanced" setting on a device level (since not all phones are created equal) where you could set a sensitivity (we're essentially talking signal strength) level for approach (unlock) and walk away (lock).

Got this APIM update done at the dealer when I took her in for recall work. I’m now at Sync version 25094. I don’t have the BC 1.4 toggles though. I’m not subscribed currently, so maybe those options aren’t present if the subscription isn’t active?

Your 2024 should have come with BC 1.2 and those toggles from the factory. So it's interesting they remove the toggles now when your subscription lapses. Guess it makes sense.
