Hello All,
Yesterday I did an installation for a client (I am an electrician) of a Tesla Wall Connector charger and found a good opportunity to test out my Tesla adapter, since I haven't had a chance to try since receiving it...
Well, it did not work, It gave me a charging error code and the lights in the Lightning charge port started blinking red. I tried a couple of times with the same result.
Does anyone knows what could be the issue?
I have two guesses--- One, the Tesla Wall Connector home charger is not compatible with our adapter; Two, my adapter is faulty.
I'll stop at a Tesla charger later today to test it, but in the meanwhile would like to have your opinions.
Thanks in advance for your input...

What Tesla adapter? There is NACS to CCS1, which you use at Superchargers, and there are NACS to J1772, which you would use with the "wall connector".

They are not interchangeable. If you are trying the NACS to CCS1 adapter you got from Ford for SuperChargers it won't work. You need to get something like a TeslaTap or A2Z NACS to J1772 adapter.

If you are using a NACS to J1772, I read there is a compatibility mode that may need to be enabled on the wall connector, it's outlined in the manuals.

Which adapter are you referring to?
The adapter that Ford gave us or the others you can purchase are for DCFC charging only!
There are other adapters you can purchase for NACS to CCS1 for AC charging.

Thanks Vulnox for the reply. Yes, I tried the adapter that Ford sent us. So, now I know they are incompatible.
Thanks again,

Marcelo

Herein is the beauty of the Tesla NACS plug/cord.
That single plug/cord is capable of L1, L2 and DCFC,

If you use the NACS cord for any other EV, you need a J1772 adaptor for L1 and L2,
and a CCS1 adaptor (ford supplied) for (NACS) DCFC.
ie: Tesla Superchargers.

Just like a CCS. And without the extra circuitry in the car to redirect the input for AC vs DC. Each has its advantages.

CCS1 piggybacks on the J1772 plug with additional size, weight and “circuitry“ to accomandate DCFC charging and /or backfeed

CCS1 is big, heavy, 2 handed, unmanageable and requires more “circuitry” in both the unit and car. I’ve never seen the advantage of CCS1 over NACS.
