Mine does it even with no signs of any kind in view. The system also uses a database for speed limit data. There were locations in my town where it would inexplicably drop to 20 in a 30 and show 70 in a 35. It was 100% repeatable and eventually got rectified.I think it’s been discussed here before and seems like it has to do with software reading a roadside sign that is not a speed limit sign. Like an exit sign or weight limit sign, etc.
I’d also mention that even with “Speed limit assist” turned off, you can still see the errors on the display.
