…….. ……Get ready for the cancellation of Lightning 2.0 in about 5 years because they flip flop like a fish and leave their customers holding the bag. I have lost all my trust in Ford. I will NEVER! buy a Ford again.
UNFORTUNATELY…. They’re all the same, just another corporation looking out for shareholders….

The consumer gets burnt no matter what. If there are shareholders, they ALWAYS come first.!

Ford is a business, not a charity. Scream at them all you want. It still is not Ford's job to give away vehicles at a loss for eternity. Anyone who is shocked at this decision has not been paying attention to reality. Good morning to you.

If Ford sold the Lightning at a price that was profitable and sustainable, nobody in this conversation would buy it.

So if I’m dumb enough to get one of these new lightnings and I run out of gas… I can’t plug it in to charge it?

Kind of defeats the purpose of going electric, doesn’t it?

I know everyone is freaking out right now, but I still feel confident Ford will support our Lightnings for the 10 year period as promised. If I had bought a Rivian or Lucid and they cancelled the EV, I’d be a lot more worried about future support guarantees.
They have to. That 10 year figure is a federal law.

Really Ford you think Chev and Tesla are not going to use this against you on advertising their trucks . Yes just buy a Ford to lose your money. I can hear them advertising now. Making fun of Ford. I love my lightning, best vehicle I have ever owned .also it has sold a few for you.Dealers always tried to get me to buy ice trucks.sales people didn't know nothing about the trucks .very bad business for ford. I would not buy anything you make after this ,you think people are going to buy your batteries for their home after this .your Competition Is going to have a Heyday with you on everything you sell.sorry you are going to lose your customer base. You should have Just started another lightning REV LINE. YOU HAVE A FANTASTIC Truck now .
I have never loved a truck more , so disappointed ford shouldn't insult the Lightning name by putting it on a hybrid, big step backwards im keeping my truck as long as I possibly can.

That’s the expectation anyways. It’s basically an EV and in theory it should run and drive and charge like any other EV. The key will be if Ford will give people the option to turn off the onboard generator when they know they don’t need the extra range. If you can do that, then you can drive it around exactly as you do now with the Lightning, except the pure battery range will probably only be like 150-200 miles I’m guessing. But who knows until they tell us more specs.

The aluminum plant fire put nail in Lightning, this gives them an easy out to cancel it and send metal to protect ICE margins.

That said I’ll be perusing any dealer fire sales as well as the auctions, the trucks pay for themselves Ford just completely missed boat by not starting with Fleets and turning out $100k+ Platinum's instead.

Let’s not forget they also cancelled the e-transit van too.

Transit is a Brick ++, without a passenger configuration and a baby battery it was doomed. Had looked at buying a couple.

They priced it more then a Lightning Pro and its only two seats with a bare metal cargo area and a smaller battery.

Just bought two Id.Buzz with twice range then Transit for $40k US each - new, all the toys, awd, and seating. Compare that to a bare box for a higher price.

I suspect that GM will slowly wind down production of their EV's to focus on more profitable vehicles that resonate with customers. They will post some lofty language press release speaking to how they are not giving up on EV's but are moving to a different platform that will better align with what customers are looking for. All while killing their models off, in favor of larger SUV and Truck platforms with more potential profit.

When gases envariably rise again in the future, the news will be filled of stories of how people cant afford to fuel their vehicles. Then in a few years when the Chinese manufaturers have taken over the market for cars and light trucks, everybody will wonder what happened.
This is probably the most astute and accurate response I’ve ever seen.

I'm an educated dumb person. I would purchase if I had a need.

If this was the case who would be the first to yank the engine and tank, lighten the load, add an additional 50kWh aux battery to fool the system into thinking that is the generator power source?
Then take said engine generator system, stick it on a trailer and use it as your home/shop back up generator and when needed throw it in the bed... For 1000 mile range extension.... Maybe we are onto something. :ROFLMAO:(Sarcasm)

I wonder what a catalytic converter would cost on that new system for carb requirements?

I wonder if it will be quad fuel... Gasoline, ethanol, propane and CNG.

I agree, I will never buy a Ford again either. The dealers can’t even fix the one I have and quality and Dealer experience is the worst.
I am in the same boat. This will be my last Ford. I know it sounds like conjecture, etc., but this was the first Ford vehicle I've ever purchased. They talked in platitudes about the future of their EVs and standing behind them...well, my 2022 lighting XLT SR will be lucky to recieve OTA updates. Amazing truck that Ford doesn't deserve.

Call me stupid. I also love my Lightning, so much that I ordered a replacement for my 2025 Lariat. I really don’t know if it’ll be built; wait and see for now. I’m also disappointed at the EREV strategy for F150 but I won’t turn my back on an iconic brand that has delivered for me and my family and extended family for generations. So, call me stupid. I’ll stick around and if/when the EREV emerges, I’ll let you peeps know how it goes. I remain cautiously optimistic for now.
Just curious. If you have a 25 why were you ordering another one to replace it?

On the subject of “CARB” they are not long for this world. I’m surprised that the smog thing is still going in CA. They obviously are trying to hold on as long as possible. 🤣

As someone who was born and raised in Los Angeles and remember the "brown clouds" covering DTLA, I can say that in comparison to today it has vastly improved.

But like another poster wrote......... when it happens people will as how did we fall so far behind....
