PRO increases from $55,974 to $59,974
Lariat Standard Range increases from $74,474 to $75,974
Platinum increases from $96,874 to $98,074

Ford reopened its retail order banks Thursday for those who already hold reservations to buy the F-150 Lightning pickup truck as three work shifts and full production return to the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn.

The automaker shut down assembly of the high-profile truck for five weeks after a battery fire in the holding lot. Now things are back to normal.

Trucks are shipping to customers, and Ford has adjusted its MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price) upward in response to current material costs, market factors and supply chain constraints, Ford spokesman Martin Gunsberg confirmed to the Detroit Free Press on Thursday.

Ford customers wanting the popular pickup currently must have a reservation and wait until the company invites them to place an order. The new process starting in coming weeks will allow shoppers without a reservation to order a Lightning directly for the first time, Gunsberg said.

"As we ramp up production toward a 150,000 annual run rate by the fall, we will start to open retail ordering for the first time in late spring," Gunsberg said.

The entry price for the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck just got more expensive again, increasing $4,000 to $61,869, including an $1,895 destination fee.

That marks the fourth price increase for the fleet-oriented Lightning Pro, causing prices to surge nearly 50%, from $41,669 when it launched last summer to $61,869 now. Fleet customers can lock in that price with a reservation for order banks that open in mid-April.

Retail orders won't open until late spring, Ford confirmed in an email, and the 2023 Lightning Pro remains sold out for retail customers. Expect it to open for the 2024 model year.

Ford reopened order banks for the winning Ford F-150 Lightning following a full return to production at the brand's Rogue Electric Vehicle Center. The factory had been halted in February following an investigation into a battery fire. That prompted Ford to recall 18 Lightning pickup trucks that had made it to dealers and customers on March 10. The factory resumed production on March 13, and aims for an annual production run of 150,000 electric trucks.

Sold with either a 98-kwh standard-range battery pack with a 240-mile range on the base Lightning Pro or a 131-kwh extended-range battery pack with a 320-mile range, the Lightning has no tailpipe emissions, it has more storage and cargo space than the F-150, it's quicker, cleaner, and it can tow up to 10,000 pounds.

The price of the 2023 F-150 Lightning Lariat with the standard-range battery pack increases $1,500 to $77,869, including destination. The top Platinum trim that comes standard with the extended-range battery pack increases $1,200 to $99,969.

Ford's running out of room to stay under the six-figure price ceiling. Ford spokesperson Marty Gunsberg attributed the price hikes as a response to "current material costs, market factors, and supply chain constraints."

You are completely right. This price adjustment makes the SR XLT the best buy (compared to other SR models), while I feel the Lariat ER is the best buy for ER models.

Do I feel the Pro is worth the new price tag? Probably, but it is no longer the no-brainer it used to be.

I will say, with this price increase, Ford should allow retail customers to buy the ER Pro now.

Ford is blaming supply chain, parts shortages, and market conditions for the price increase. What they won't say is that they are mismanaged and a lot of inefficiencies are driving profit margins way down. Chevy might be able to undercut them just by running their business more efficiently.

Ford, fix your internal issues first! Don't just pass the costs of your mismanaged, inefficient business model to the customer.

Say what you will about Inflation, Supply Chain, yada yada, but a $20,000 increase in one model year (or 2 since you cant get a PRO) means they are incredibly incompetent and didn't price it correctly at first and now are trying to recoup that loss.

I hope I am wrong having bought both a PRO and XLT as I want maintance support for the future.

If the $6 Billion Blue Oval City in Tennessee doesn't convince you that Ford is serious about electric vehicles, nothing will.

I was hopeful they were serious. Obviously since I ponied up over 100k for 2 of these trucks.

The construction pics are all over the internet and Ford had a huge media shindig there last week. Farley is "all in" on EVs without a doubt.

The Lightning PRO was unsustainable at $39k. It was ridiculous at that price. Is the Lighting PRO still a decent deal at $60k? I don't know...but confident Ford will sell everyone they can produce until someone else comes to market with a better value. Right now for mainstream Electric trucks, they are the only real game in town. (Rivian is way more expensive and still loosing money with every truck)

Glad my pro order is still showing $46k MSRP + options total of $53k. Although I've been contemplating finding a 22 xlt for basically the same price.
