My slot finally came up to order my lightning but I'm hesitant because the MSRP is now above the 80k tax credit limit and it just bothers me to pay that much more.

At my dealer today they said they're going to be selling their 2022 test drive vehicle. It's an 2022 extended range Lariat with 2700 miles for $79k. Do I jump on this or am I talking myself into it just because I'm frustrated with the 2023 price change and getting it NOW sounds nice? Is it an OK deal?

2022 Lightning (Ordered 6/19, delivered 10/28/22)
The first question is if the vehicle is going to be sold as a new vehicle(demo) OR has the vehicle been registered and they are selling used.

If it is the former--never registered-- then you *may* qualify for the tax credit which makes this a much more enticing proposition.

Note: Some dealers(and some states) require demo vehicles to get state registration--making the vehicle a used vehicle to you and not eligible for tax credits. Other states allow dealers to have inventory with only a dealer plate(never registered) and you would be the first owner--original registration.

Buy the demo unit - but beware - the $7500 rebate is based on the MSRP on that sticker - NOT what you pay. It does not include the delivery and handling, only th MSRP, but if the $7500 plays a part in your decision, just be aware that you may still not qualify on that '22 depending on sticker.

Sorry, not quite understanding. If the sticker says total msrp 79939 is that enough to get the rebate or should I worry about other things? Sticker pic attached

The total msrp is under 80k so you’re fine - it’ll qualify if you meet all the other requirements.

No brainier if you like the truck. That truck is $7000ish more if it's a 2023 which doesn't have a heated steering wheel and definitely wouldn't qualify for the tax credit. Sub $80k ERs are not quite unicorns but there are fewer of them every day.

Thank you all for placating my worries/fears. I called them and am going in Monday to do the paperwork.

Now that that part's over, anything I need to watch for during the process, and what's the new hot home charger? My dad's an electrician so wiring it is taken care of.
