There are cheaper options out there that work. Maybe someone else can chine in with what they used; or check the FDRS thread on the Mach E forum for other options. I know @Mike G used two Clore PL2320's at the same time for a while with success.

You can but they need to be plugged in to separate household circuits in order for one of them to not 'quit' in the middle of programming. I've done it. But others have reported that when they did it one of the two units stopped producing power and so their voltage dropped as a result. I suspect they had both 2320s plugged in to the same extension cord when that happened.

I did go out and buy a Clore PL6100 two years ago and have had no problems since.

However there are plenty of alternatives to a $400 powersupply and lots of folks on here have come up with their own.

My favorite is the Iota DLS-75 which will do the job nicely. Right now somebody is selling one on Ebay for about 50 bucks. So it doesn't have to be expensive. Just gotta look around.

A note on the Iota units. Unless there's a load on them they are completely silent and have no LED to indicate that power is being supplied. So you might think it's not working when it is. The internal fan won't kick in until a load is being pulled.

One other thing to remember is to keep the 12V charge cables as short as possible. You should put the charger close to where you’re connecting to the vehicle and just run a longer 120V extension cord to the wall outlet.

I have decided to use 3 feet of #8 which is good for 65 amps. But you could also get by with 1.5 feet of cable and #10.

Poor practice would be to put the charger 10-15 feet away and run 12 gauge. At 60 amps the voltage drop would be significant.

I initially went the dual 2320 route since I already had a 2320. Seemed like a much cheaper alternative at the time. Worked well at first (separate circuits), but some updates used more than the 40a and there were a few pucker moments when I dropped in the 9v range. I ended up buying a pl6100 and run it off the dedicated circuit my EV charger uses. It is definitely a better power supply with plenty of room at 100a max. I no longer suggest the dual pl2320s due to the 40a max limit.

Hi All,

Just joined the lightning family and looking at doing this to update all modules. Looking at getting some USB sticks, mongoose, and the PowerMax PMBC-75 (75amps work or go for the 100?. That should be everything I need correct?
Also is it safe to update all modules? Or just specific ones. I tried reading through all of the threads but there are a lot of posts.

Is anyone able to check my vin on what I'm missing?

Unless there is someone in Atlanta that could help me.

I would remove your vin and message @rugedraw . Since you have a 2024, not sure exactly what updates are available but the 75amp version was sufficient for my needs when updating over 20 modules on my 2023. It was suggested to update GWM, APIM and any TCU updates that pop up first. These are done over usb with the truck running so the 12v draining isn't much of an issue. The IPMA or CMR updates seem to take a while and run with the truck off so those are two of the big drains on the battery. When I did mine the PSCM, PCM, SOBDMC/B, GFM2, BECM, and ABS all chained together. If there's a BCM update, you will likely be unable to update it since that's dealer only.

I have never done my own updates, but I will add the warning I've learned since you note doing this over a weekend. It is reported often times that the Ford servers are down on Sunday mornings for maintenance.

Thank you! I did see that noted earlier. I'll be kicking it off over the weekend most likely as that is when all the parts should get here.

So for those who haven't updated to FDRS 42.5.10, there's a new noteworthy feature that provides 'dependency clues' for some of the updates. And it's pretty useful info.

Here's an example from a VIN I ran this morning:

We can see from the note that doing the IPC will unlock other updates, that when performed in sequence will bring the Sync system current (in this case likely all the way to Sync 1270 which is the latest so far).

Much better than hiding these notes in random TSB's that don't get completely read. Probably the most useful thing I've seen them add them add to it in terms of pointing techs who many not know this in the right direction.

They should add a note for the 22's to recalibrate the 360 camera with as many times as it has been missed.

Yeah, there's been countless instances of the techs missing it altogether. People have had to physically tell them what to do as apparently reading is difficult.
