I got the Bouge RV 30QT Fridge on Prime-day lightning deal for $219. A couple of short straps, hide the AC power supply in the battery compartment of the fridge and you have cold beverages ready to go. I tested this frunk closed in 95 degree sun and it holds 37 just fine. If I were going to have in that for hours on end I'd open the Frunk to prevent thermal chain reaction so I don't destroy my prime-day deal.

One major caveat is that if you have a 24 or a 25 with PPOB and the ability to power it when truck is off, that depends on a constant load over 90 watts. So with a 45watt fridge that turns on and off I learned quick that it will kill PPOB anyway. Now I leave the truck on. However, its a nice test and in that scenario, the truck turned off with the fridge at 37 and it went up 10 degrees to 47 in a few hours. Not terrible for no ice.

Now I get to think through how I will "duct" my Lasko outdoor fan in my bed to get AC from the truck for watching my kid play ball this August!

Nice.
It fits well in there, and is color coordinated, too!
Now all I have to do is come up with reasons "we" need it to tell my wife...

Very nice! Appreciate the pictures and write up. I was close to pulling the trigger on one of these before our trip over the 4th weekend, but was torn on the best size for the frunk. That looks like it fits really well.

This is such a great idea it’s too bad the truck has to stay on . I went with Yeti Tundra 35.
It fits well in there and no running vehicle needed.

Like it was an oem option. I can even still use the ice chest.

This pro power shut down thing is annoying to those of us that have the factory capability of turning the vehicle off and keeping PPOB live. I don’t have an electrical device that would pull a constant or intermittent within 5 minutes 90+ watts without generating its own heat. Annoying. I guess I could keep the truck running with the climate off but why would I want the screens up and the truck moveable.

@ford here too I guess. Let PPOB stay on with vehicle off until reserve is met period. Stop sensing for a bunch of draw.

I also have a smaller model of that unit and I’ve been very happy with it. It’s great on road trips and not having to worry about ice Water spillage everywhere.

On yes. Mobile no, unless you leave your fob or phone (PAAK) in the vehicle.
If the keys not there it will not shift into gear.

A bug zapper or two is all the load bank you need to stop the PPOB sleepy sleeps. This one pulls 80W all by itself.
Now that is lightning. Ridiculous driving around with that thing. One if by land, PPOB…

Solid point. Still, the lack of a camping mode or dog mode with these things is a silly exercise in too many UX steps.

I got the 23 qt for Fathers Day and have used it several times. Wish I had places to run a strap through, but just put one around the front and pull it toward the back wall of the frunk. I leave my truck on at work all day with this running and it works fine, just a bit of a hassle to make sure to turn off the lights, HVAC, calm the screens, and turn off the power down timer.

I forgot the other day in a parking garage and left the HVAC on and when I came back there was a big puddle running out from it. The security guard drove by and stopped to ask if everything was ok, maybe thinking I had peed there.

I also used it in about 90 degree weather on a bike ride and when I came back it was 40 degrees inside the cooler even though it was set for 35. Did get pretty warm inside the frunk, may look to put it in the bed under the tonneau cover.

Overall it is great to have.

To be fair, I was thinking the big zapper for when parked (camping, etc) not so much Oscar Mike. 😂

You could always pull your 12 V battery cover off and that would provide you some airflow without having to open the frunk!

I am curious about leaving these things in the frunk multiple hours/days. I assume these fridge/freezers generate some heat and that there is no ventilation in the frunk. Is there any concern that it gets too hot to operate, that over the longer term it might shorten the life of the fridge, or, in the worst case, do damage to the truck? I can't decide if those are real concerns or just products of my imagination, but I live in Louisiana...

Putting it in the bed would, of course, solve for most of that, but I don't have a cover, so it's then exposed to elements and whatever else is dirty in the bed. The Frunk is an ideal place.
